Children have stuffy nose and difficulty breathing when sleeping

When the child is young, the mother wants to keep the child by her side at all times, for fear that the child may have any problems when he is out of her sight. Even when the child is sleeping, the mother will observe him for a while to see if he has any symptoms. Many parents report that their children have stuffy noses and difficulty breathing when sleeping, and they feel like their children are suffocating just by looking at them. Here are some tips to relieve your child's stuffy nose and difficulty breathing when sleeping. Parents can learn from them.

Children are prone to nasal congestion, which is related to their physiological characteristics:

Children's nasal cavities are narrow, their nasal mucosa is tender, and they are rich in blood vessels, making them susceptible to infection, congestion and swelling, and symptoms such as nasal congestion and difficulty breathing.

The most painful thing about a stuffy nose is sleeping. You have to breathe with your mouth open every night and always wake up because you don’t sleep well. Not only does it affect the growth and development of the child, but the whole family will be exhausted.

Today I will teach you a little trick: insist on "steaming, kneading and rubbing" your child every morning and evening, and your child's nose will be unblocked in less than a few days. Here is how to do it:

Steaming:

Prepare a thermos cup, preferably with a larger mouth, fill it with boiling water, let the child's nose point to the mouth of the cup (do not put it close to the mouth of the cup, pay attention to the distance), and use water vapor to fumigate the child's nasal cavity, which can not only moisturize the nasal cavity, but also has a good effect on reducing swelling of the nasal cavity.

If your baby is still young, use a warm towel to apply heat to the baby's nose. Be careful not to make the temperature too hot, wring the towel dry, and change it frequently.

Second kneading:

Parents can use the index and middle fingers of their right hand to gently massage the nasal grooves on both sides of the child's nose for 2-3 minutes. After a while, the child's nose will be unblocked. There is a special technique in pediatric massage in traditional Chinese medicine called "rubbing Yingxiang", which refers to this technique.

The ancients named this acupoint "Yingxiang" which includes the effect of clearing the nasal passages. When the nose is unblocked, you can naturally smell the fragrance of flowers. Therefore, whether adults or children have a stuffy nose, they can press and rub this acupoint, and the nasal passages will be cleared immediately.

Pressing and rubbing the Yingxiang point is also suitable for symptoms such as runny nose, rhinitis, and sinusitis.

Three rubs:

Parents can use the index fingers of both hands to rub the sides of the child's nose up and down for 1-2 minutes until the area becomes slightly red and warm. Rubbing the bridge of the nose in traditional Chinese medicine pediatric massage has a very good effect on clearing the nose caused by rhinitis and colds.

Please note: Children's skin is delicate, so be gentle when rubbing their noses. Be sure to use a massaging medium. At home, you can use olive oil or cornstarch as a massage medium to prevent damage to the child's skin.
