Tips for feeding medicine to babies

It is easy for babies to take medicine when they are young, but as they grow older, they will become more sensitive in some aspects and gradually resist medicine. It is really difficult to feed medicine to babies, and it is easy to knock it over if you are not careful. So everyone should pay attention to it in daily life and learn some tips for feeding medicine so that you can feed medicine easily.

Giving medicine to your baby requires preparation, which is divided into the following steps:

1. Preparation before medication

Prepare medicines before giving them to your child. Babies don’t like to take medicines that taste bitter or have special smells, so parents should fully consider this when choosing medicines for their children, and try to choose medicines that suit their children’s tastes to avoid children developing a rebellious mentality and not wanting to take medicine.

Second, the choice of medication time

The best time to give the medicine is in the period between feedings, preferably 30 minutes to 1 hour before the second feeding. This not only prevents the child from vomiting after taking the medicine and then drinking milk, but also prevents the medicine from irritating the child's spleen and stomach.

3. Steps of feeding medicine

1. When feeding medicine, syrup, etc., parents should hold the child and let the child half lie on their arms, press the child's chin lightly with their fingers, let the child open his mouth, and then use a dropper or syringe-type medicine feeder to draw a small amount of liquid medicine, slowly put it into the baby's mouth, and then gently lift the child's chin to make it swallow. Repeat the above actions until the child has fed enough, and then use a small spoon to feed the child some water to dilute the taste in the child's mouth.

2. When feeding tablets or other medicines, first crush the tablets and pound them into powder. Then use a spoon to take a small amount of powder and a little sugar, mix it into a paste and feed it to the child. After the medicine is entered into the child's mouth, put an appropriate amount of boiled water in the bottle and feed it to the child to help the child swallow the medicine.

I believe that all parents have learned the above methods. If you have the opportunity, you can try it!
