Why does my child keep farting?

Many parents will experience their babies farting a lot during feeding. If their babies fart a lot, parents will wonder if their feeding method is improper, and they are afraid that feeding the baby some bad food will cause stomach problems. So if the baby farts a lot, they should take the baby to the hospital for a check-up. So what is the reason for the child to fart a lot?

1. Increased farting

Sometimes excessive farting is related to eating too much starchy food, such as sweets, sweet potatoes, potatoes, etc. sold in the market. People who eat a lot of pasta also fart a lot. This type of food causes excessive gas production in the intestinal cavity, leading to more farts and larger amounts of feces. At this time, you should reduce starchy foods and increase protein and vegetable foods to achieve a balanced diet.

2. Farts stink

It is most indecent to fart in front of everyone. There are two situations of smelly farts. One is that the stool is loose and the farts have a strong odor. If the stool is discharged, the farts will stop. From this point of view, the saying "fart is the head of shit" makes sense. Second, the fart smells extremely strong, just like rotten eggs. This is because eating too much protein food causes food retention in the intestines. When retained protein food is broken down in the digestive tract, amines are produced, which are the cause of this foul smell. The solution is to reduce the amount of food you eat, especially the amount of protein-containing foods.

3. No farts If you don’t fart for a long time, it means the problem is serious.

If a newborn baby does not fart, it is necessary to check whether it is imperforate anus or anal hypoplasia. If an adult does not fart but his abdomen is swollen like a drum, it means that there is abdominal bloating. This requires consideration of whether there is a problem with the anorectum, such as inflammation, tumor, constipation, hemorrhoids, etc., and an anal tube may be needed to exhaust the gas if necessary.

People with intussusception, intestinal volvulus, and intestinal obstruction have no farts because their farts are blocked by the intestines.

If there is no fart and accompanied by severe intestinal colic, you must go to the hospital immediately for emergency treatment. In addition, peritonitis caused by gastric perforation or appendicitis perforation may cause the abdomen to become hard and extremely painful to the touch, and there may be no farts.

There are roughly two reasons for frequent farting. One is that you often eat gas-producing foods, such as sweet potatoes, onions, cabbage, beans and other soy products, which cause farting. The other is that you may suffer from "irritable bowel syndrome", which clinically also causes abdominal pain, bloating and farting.

In terms of diet, it is recommended that you eat small meals frequently and avoid overeating. When eating, you should chew slowly to avoid swallowing too much air. Foods that easily produce gas should also be avoided. Drinking a glass of yogurt every day can help change the bacteria in your gastrointestinal tract.

Farts are waste gases emitted by the body, mostly carbon dioxide, hydrogen and methane.

In the past, it was generally believed that the smell of farts was released by methane. In fact, methane itself does not smell bad. Modern science has proven that the "culprits" that produce bad odors are foul-smelling gases such as indole, skatole, and hydrogen sulfide.

Since human sense of smell is particularly sensitive to these gases, even if someone farts secretly in public, people will still quickly notice it and cover their noses and shout "it stinks!" Farts are produced because some of the food we eat is not decomposed. The undigested parts, including fiber and sugars, become food for E. coli. When E. coli have a full meal, they release gas, which accumulates in the body and creates a pressure. When the pressure is too great, it will be expelled from the body and form a fart.

The amount of farts is related to people’s diet.

Some people like to eat onions, ginger, raw garlic, potatoes, sweets, beans and pasta. Since these foods contain matrices that can produce a large amount of hydrogen, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and other gases, they often produce a lot of waste gas after eating and fart continuously.

The amount of farts is also related to the strength of a person's digestive function. When you have indigestion, intestinal bacteria ferment quickly, easily producing gas and causing you to fart.

A scientist found that a person farts about 14 times a day. Every day, each person releases about 500 ml of waste gas.

Although farts smell bad, they are a normal physiological need and are good for human health. It is not good for a person's health if he does not fart all day long. People who never fart all year round are very likely to have gastrointestinal problems.

Drinking a glass of yogurt every day can help change the bacteria in your gastrointestinal tract.
