Side effects of hormone medication for children

Side effects of hormone medication for children

Everyone has a certain understanding of hormone drugs. Hormone drugs cannot be taken for a long time. Long-term use of hormone drugs will cause certain harm to the human body, especially for children. Although children's hormone drugs have good therapeutic effects on some diseases, they still need to be taken according to the doctor's instructions. Let’s take a look at the side effects of hormone drugs for children.

1. Harms of using hormone drugs in children

Common local side effects include acne-like rash, allergic dermatitis, perioral or periorbital dermatitis, rosacea, telangiectasia, skin atrophy or aging, purpura, ecchymosis and other skin allergies. In addition, the patient's pores will become larger, wounds on the affected area will be difficult to heal, and the patient's resistance will gradually decrease. If used over a large area for a long time, systemic side effects may occur, such as slow development and other symptoms. Therefore, children should avoid using hormone ointments.

If topical hormone drugs are used reasonably, they can achieve twice the result with half the effort, but if they are used inappropriately, they may lead to many adverse consequences. It is generally safe for children to use medium- or weak-potency hormones for half a month, and it will not cause local or systemic side effects.

2. Classification of hormone drugs

Hormone drugs can be divided into: glucocorticoids, adrenocortical hormones, norepinephrine, progesterone, estrogen, androgen, etc. Common ways of using this type of drug: intravenous, oral, topical and others. Common dosage forms: injectable powder, water injection, capsule, tablet, cream, ointment, aerosol.

3. Precautions for using hormone drugs

Corticosteroids are used externally, orally and by injection in the clinical treatment of skin diseases. Synthetic hormone preparations such as external ointments or creams such as Fluocinolone acetonide, Fluocinolone acetonide (Fluocinolone acetonide), and Lefu Liquid are effective for a variety of skin diseases, such as contact dermatitis, eczema, prurigo, neurodermatitis and seborrheic dermatitis. Especially for the itching caused by these skin diseases, it has a certain antipruritic effect.

However, every drug has both a curative side and a negative side (i.e., side effects) for patients. Some people regard hormones as a panacea for skin diseases. Without consulting a dermatologist, they will apply any hormone-containing drugs as soon as they feel a little discomfort (especially on the face). The result was troubling complications.
