How to get rid of baby's hard nasal mucus

How to get rid of baby's hard nasal mucus

Many mothers are deeply troubled by their baby's nasal mucus, because there is nasal mucus in the baby's nostrils, and the baby always picks it with his hands. If he can't pick it out, he will feel uncomfortable and cry. The baby's nasal mucus also makes mothers obsessive-compulsive. When they see the baby has nasal mucus, they want to help the baby get it out, but there are always some nasal mucus that is big and hard. So how can the baby's hard nasal mucus be taken out?

Use a cotton swab for babies to stick to the mucus and rotate it out little by little;

Use a good quality toilet paper to roll a thin strip, insert it into the baby's nose, and rotate the mucus out little by little;

Whether you use a cotton swab or toilet paper, the premise is that the baby's nasal mucus is close to the nose and mouth. If the mucus is pushed deep into the nasal cavity during the rolling process, the mother should stop;

Use warm saline to drop a drop into the baby's nasal cavity, the baby will sneeze when stimulated, and mucus will come out;

There is also a special nasal wash spray for babies. Just spray it gently and the mucus will come out. The baby's cold and nasal congestion can also be relieved by spray;

Use a nasal aspirator to suck out your baby's nasal mucus. It is generally better not to use a nasal aspirator if possible. After all, children's nasal cavity is fragile, and using a nasal aspirator too much can easily hurt the baby's nasal cavity;

Use a plastic ear pick. Plastic ones are not as sharp and the operating risk is relatively smaller. But this is not a recommended approach either.

Hard nasal crust

If the baby's snot is hardened in the nasal cavity, it must be removed. Parents can drop 1-2 drops of oil into the baby's nose in advance to soften the mucus as much as possible and lubricate the nasal cavity to avoid discomfort to the baby when cleaning the mucus.

Or you can use a hot towel to gently apply to the baby's mouth and nose, and use the hot and humid steam to soften the baby's nasal mucus. After repeated hot compresses, the nasal mucus will be easier to clean;

Use a nose clip or small tweezers to reach deep into the nasal cavity to remove the nasal crust, but this is also quite dangerous. Therefore, parents need to be extra careful and not go too deep.

The above are some common methods parents use to help their baby "pick" their noses. However, the editor still wants to remind everyone that if the baby's nose is not serious and does not affect breathing, try not to intervene manually. Generally, the baby will bring the nose out when sneezing or the nose will come out when the baby cries. Of course, if the mucus affects the baby's breathing and it has to be removed, parents should take action when necessary, but they must pay attention to the baby's safety. It is best to do it after the baby falls asleep! If you feel that you can't solve it yourself, don't be stubborn, just go to the hospital to see an ENT doctor!
