What are the symptoms and treatment of intestinal spasms in children?

The intestine is an indispensable organ in the human body. It is not only a place to store garbage and waste, but also a place that helps our body absorb nutrients for the second time. Therefore, we should try our best to correct any behavioral habits that are harmful to the intestines. In daily life, some children often complain about stomachaches, which may actually be caused by intestinal cramps. So, what are the symptoms and treatments for children's intestinal spasms?

Intestinal spasm is paroxysmal abdominal pain caused by strong contractions of the intestinal smooth muscles and is the most common condition of acute abdominal pain in children. For infants, the degree and intensity of their crying can be used to determine whether they have intestinal colic.

The intestines are fine and everyone is safe and sound. If your intestines get upset, it can be fatal. When you encounter intestinal spasm, you can master some basic methods and receive treatment to relieve the pain caused by intestinal spasm. Intestinal spasm can be treated mainly through medication and physical therapy. Drug treatment includes Western medicine and Chinese medicine, and physical treatment includes acupoint injection, back massage, and acupuncture.

Treatment for intestinal spasms includes:

Acupoint injection: Take 10 mg (1 ml) of scopolamine hydrochloride injection and inject it into the Liangqiu acupoint on one side. During the operation, disinfect with conventional alcohol. After the needle has penetrated 2/3 of the acupuncture point, there is no need to lift and insert the needle. When there is no blood after aspirating, slowly inject the medicine.

Back push: Have the patient with intestinal spasm lie prone on the bed without a pillow, with the head tilted to one side and the upper limbs stretched straight against the body. The operator stands beside the bed, spreads his legs into a small lunge, stretches out his hands with five fingers spread out, and places them flat and parallel on the top of the patient's back (with his palms close to the back), then pushes forward explosively so that the skin and muscles on the back move quickly with the palms in an instant. Push down from top to bottom to waist with moderate force. After pushing 4 times, ask the patient with intestinal spasm to turn his head to the other side and push 4 more times according to the above method. Finally, the operator half-clenches his right fist and uses his wrist strength to hit the back from top to bottom 2 to 3 times, and the pain usually stops.

Acupuncture: For the first group, use Zusanli (3 inches below the outer kneecap, about one horizontal finger on the outer side of the tibia) and Zhongwan (4 inches above the navel, the midpoint of the line from the lower end of the sternum to the navel); for the second group, use Tianshu (3 finger widths to the left and right of the navel) and Xiawan (in the supine position, on the anterior midline of the upper abdomen, 2 inches above the navel). During the operation, the patient lies on his back, one set at a time, and two sets are used alternately. After routine disinfection of the acupoint, insert the needle vertically 0.5 to 1.0 inch. After getting qi, lift and insert the needle evenly, twist it and then remove it. Do this once a day and leave the needle in for 20 minutes. This method has the advantages of rapid effect, economy, convenience and no toxic side effects.

Intramuscular injection, once a day; cimetropium bromide (intravenous or intramuscular injection, 5 mg each time, 3 to 4 times a day; oral, 50 mg each time, 2 to 3 times a day); or 10 mg of nifedipine tablets, sublingually. The latter can quickly block the influx of calcium ions and the release of intracellular calcium ions, relieve gastrointestinal smooth muscle spasms, and thus relieve pain. It is an ideal antispasmodic drug.

Traditional Chinese medicine: 10 ml of Huoxiang Zhengqi oral liquid is commonly used, taken orally, 3 times a day. Studies have shown that the drug has an inhibitory effect on intestinal spasms. Or use Jiejing Powder, 6 grams each of costus root, yam, fennel, 15 grams of Corydalis, 5 grams of Magnolia officinalis, 12 grams of dried tangerine peel, 24 grams of stir-fried white peony root, 10 grams of angelica, and 3 grams of roasted licorice. Add appropriate amount of water, soak for 30 minutes, boil, and then cook over low heat for another 30 minutes. Boil twice in total, combine the filtrate, concentrate to 100 ml, and take orally in 2 doses.
