In fact, many children will fall during their growth process, but parents should still pay attention to the problem of falls, especially if they fall on the head. If you don't pay attention, the impact may be very serious. Sometimes it may cause hemorrhagic injury to the head or intracranial hemorrhage. If you vomit or have any abnormalities after falling, you should take your child to the hospital in time. First, falling is inevitable. Once it happens, parents must not panic and should not pick up the child too forcefully to avoid causing other unnecessary injuries. If the baby starts crying immediately after falling, it is usually not a serious situation and you can pick the baby up gently. If the baby is face down, it is usually less dangerous and you can just deal with the external injuries if there are any. Another point is that for children under one year old, the fontanelle has not yet completely closed, so there will be a cushion inside the skull after a fall, and the probability of causing cerebral hemorrhage is very low. The only thing to worry about is older children falling on their heads. Second, when a child falls on his head, he should go to the hospital immediately in the following situations: 1. Bleeding trauma on the head; 2. The child did not cry after falling, but was not fully conscious, semi-comatose and sleepy; 3. Within two days after the fall, the child suffers from repeated vomiting, excessive sleepiness, poor spirits, or severe crying; 4. Within two days after the fall, bleeding, discharge from the nose or ears, and uneven pupils occur. Generally, if you fall and hit your head and cause severe concussion or intracranial hemorrhage, the symptoms will appear quickly, at the latest within 24 hours, so you should go to the hospital as soon as possible if you have symptoms. Third, if a child falls and hits his head and there is no bleeding but a small swelling, he should be treated with cold compress immediately. If the swelling is large or red, you can apply some sesame oil as an emergency measure, or apply moistened potato slices on it, which can help relieve pain and remove blood stasis. If accompanied by symptoms such as drowsiness or vomiting, seek medical attention immediately. Fourth, even if you fall on your head, don’t always suspect that you have a concussion. A concussion is characterized by a period of loss of consciousness and awareness. If the baby remains conscious, there will be no problem. If a child vomits, it may be caused by fright or a temporary brain concussion. Generally, the child will recover after vomiting two or three times, which is different from a concussion. Even if it is a concussion, if it is mild, there will be no sequelae. |
