What to do if your child has herpes in the throat

It is very common for children to have herpes in their throats in daily life. It will not only cause great harm to the patient's physical health, but also make parents very worried. This situation may be a manifestation of herpetic pharyngitis. Parents should take their children to see a doctor in time and choose appropriate treatment methods to restore health as soon as possible. Friends in need can learn more about the relevant knowledge.

1. Herpes in the child's throat may be herpetic pharyngitis

"Herpetic pharyngitis" is a special manifestation of children's colds, which is more common in summer and autumn. It often occurs in nurseries and kindergartens, and is more common among infants and young children. It is caused by a virus called coxsackievirus group A.

What is herpetic pharyngitis

Like hand, foot and mouth disease, herpangina is also caused by a variety of enteroviruses (such as Coxsackievirus, Echovirus, etc.). It is a common infectious disease in infants and young children with fever, red and sore throat, and blisters on the upper palate mucosa as the main symptoms.

Clinical manifestations: There is generally an incubation period of 1-4 days. There will be no symptoms at this stage, followed by sudden fever and sore throat. The fever usually lasts for 2-4 days. The typical manifestation of herpangina is the appearance of grayish white blisters in the throat, about 1-2mm in diameter, which may gradually increase in number and become 2-3mm in diameter within 2-3 days, and then rupture to form white or yellow ulcers. Older children will complain of sore throat, while infants and young children will cry and drool because of the pain. As the blisters burst, body temperature will generally gradually return to normal. When the blisters break into small ulcers, there will be pain, which will affect the child's eating. Infants and young children will drool and refuse to eat, which will last for about 2-3 days.

2. Treatment recommendations

1. Open windows frequently for ventilation. Maintaining air circulation is an effective measure to prevent and treat chronic pharyngitis. Dry indoor air and excessive cooling, heating or humidity can affect the defense function of the pharyngeal mucosa, causing functional disorders and abnormal sensation in the pharynx, which can eventually lead to chronic pharyngitis. Rinse your mouth and brush your teeth in the morning, after meals and before going to bed to keep your mouth clean. At the same time, preventing and treating oral and nasal diseases and eliminating inflammatory lesions are also helpful in preventing pharyngitis.

2. Pay attention to the combination of work and rest. Avoid exposure to cold and rest in bed if your body is not adapted. In daily life, drinking tea can not only prevent and improve the treatment of inflammation, but also regulate the balance of human body mechanisms, clear away heat and detoxify, and have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects.

3. Adjust your diet. The diet should be light and easy to digest, supplemented with some refreshing, heat-removing, tender and juicy foods. Such as oranges, tangerines, pineapples, sugar cane, olives, pears, apples, etc., or drink more water and cool drinks, but the drinks should not be too strong. Avoid tobacco, alcohol, ginger, pepper, mustard, garlic and all spicy foods.

4. Pay attention to protection. People who are frequently exposed to dust or chemical gases should wear masks, face shields, etc. and take protective measures.

5. Keep your intestines and stomach unobstructed. Drink more boiled water with light salt, eat easily digestible food, and keep your stomach and intestines unobstructed.

6. Seek medical attention promptly. Once discovered, seek medical attention as soon as possible and don't delay.
