What are the causes of redness and swelling of children's genitals

It is also common for children to have redness and swelling of the genitals. For boys, the most common cause is phimosis. Because the foreskin is too long, smegma will appear on the glans penis, causing bacteria to grow and cause infection. In fact, this is quite harmful to the health of children. In addition to paying attention to the hygiene of the private parts, it is best to undergo a circumcision.

There are three common causes of balanitis :

1. Not paying attention to external genital hygiene

The sebaceous glands of the foreskin of young men often secrete more vigorously. If they do not pay attention to cleaning the external genitalia regularly, or do not turn the foreskin up when cleaning, the secretions of the sebaceous glands of the foreskin will accumulate under the foreskin, forming smegma like tofu dregs. Smegma is a good culture medium for bacteria and can easily induce balanitis if not removed in time.

2. Suffering from phimosis or prepuce

The glans penis of those with excessive foreskin is usually always wrapped in the foreskin and can only be exposed by turning it up manually; those with phimosis cannot turn the foreskin up to expose the glans penis even with the help of hands. In this case, smegma is more likely to accumulate in the foreskin and is difficult to remove. Therefore, it is not surprising that patients with phimosis often suffer from balanitis. If you suffer from phimosis or prepuce, you should go to the hospital for circumcision at an appropriate time. The operation is simple, does not require hospitalization, and recovery can be achieved in about a week.

3. Damage caused by masturbation

Young people have strong sexual desire and often masturbate. Sometimes masturbation is too rough and can cause varying degrees of foreskin damage. Because masturbation causes high mental excitement and the damage is relatively small, it may not be noticed. However, the wound on the foreskin is extremely susceptible to bacterial contamination, thus inducing balanitis.

Balanitis often occurs and may lead to foreskin adhesion, urethral meatus inflammation, urethral stenosis, and even inflammation going back up the urethra and causing urinary tract infection. Therefore, timely treatment is necessary and attention should be paid to health care at ordinary times. However, balanitis does not affect physiological function and fertility.

Once the disease is discovered, the foreskin should be turned over and soaked in 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution to clean the affected area, then antibiotic ointment should be applied and antibiotics should be used appropriately. It will usually be cured within a few days. If the condition is serious, effective treatment is required under the guidance of a doctor. Foreskin is too long
