What medicine should children take for anemia?

If your baby is iron deficient, it is a sign of anemia. If your baby is anemic, the nutrition is unbalanced and the mother should pay attention to it. It is best for your baby's daily diet to consist of blood-enriching foods, such as red dates water, red beans, red rice, various meats, fish, etc. Don't be picky about food, and keep the nutrition of complementary foods balanced. In addition to paying special attention to dietary nutrition, babies with anemia can also be treated with medication. Let's see what medicine is good for children with anemia?

1. Causes of anemia

Anemia in infants and young children is mostly caused by malnutrition, which is generally manifested by pale skin and mucous membranes, especially the lips, nail beds and oral mucosa, pale or sallow complexion, easy fatigue, inactivity, loss of appetite, mental depression, slow growth and development. Some older children may describe dizziness, tinnitus, blurred vision, etc. to their parents. In addition, iron deficiency anemia will reduce the child's immunity, and the baby is often prone to various infections. Long-term anemia can affect heart function and intellectual development.

2. Replenish iron storage

Once iron deficiency anemia is diagnosed, replenishing the baby's iron storage is the key to improving anemia. When iron deficiency anemia occurs, the preferred treatment option is to supplement iron. Generally, Iron Edge tablets that are suitable for baby's gastrointestinal absorption are used. Babies from 4 months to 1 year old take two tablets a day to safely supplement iron and produce blood and increase the baby's hemoglobin. The baby's anemia will improve after one month. The medication should be continued for at least 2 months after hemoglobin returns to normal, and stopped after stored iron is replenished.

3. Babies with anemia need to strengthen their diet on a daily basis

Breastfeeding is encouraged; after 4 months, orange juice can be fed in moderation to promote iron absorption; iron-rich foods such as high-iron rice noodles can be added from 4-6 months; liver puree and minced meat can be added in sequence from 6-9 months to supplement heme iron; young children can eat more animal liver, animal blood, lean meat and fish, which are rich in iron and have a high absorption rate.

4. Add complementary food

As the baby grows older, the resistance brought from the mother will gradually decrease, and the formation of autoantibodies will be insufficient, and the resistance will become weaker, so it is easy to get sick. Mothers should pay attention to adding complementary foods to their babies. If the baby refuses to accept it, mothers can change the preparation method appropriately and find ways to make the baby interested in it.

5. Notes

1. Parents should observe their babies carefully. If the baby has obvious symptoms of anemia, they should be checked in time.

2. During the period of iron supplementation for anemia babies, iron-supplementing foods cannot be mixed with milk, otherwise it will affect iron absorption.
