What is the reason for children's teeth to turn black?

If children's teeth turn black or yellow, parents need to take some responsibility, because we all know that in the process of taking care of children, they may not pay much attention to oral health and hygiene, so parents should play a role of guidance and supervision. If children's teeth turn yellow, sometimes we should also be alert to whether they do not pay attention to brushing their teeth frequently, often eat sweets, leading to tooth decay, or because of excessive lead load in the body.

1. There are black deposits on the surface of teeth , which cannot be brushed off even with brushing. There may be the following reasons, but first let’s talk about the sulfur element in food. Most foods contain sulfur, among which leeks, onions, garlic and other foods have the highest content. If you do not brush your teeth in time after a meal, or the food residue is affected by bacteria, the sulfur element will be released to react chemically with iron or lead to form a water-insoluble black precipitate attached to the surface of the teeth.

2. Failure to rinse the mouth in time after taking iron supplements for anemia causes the iron remaining in the mouth to react with the sulfur in the food in the mouth to form black, water-insoluble ferrous sulfide deposits. Therefore, children who take iron supplements (usually iron supplements are taken after meals) should drink some water and rinse their mouths after taking the medicine to prevent their teeth from turning black.

3. If the lead load in the child's body is high, the lead element in the mouth will react with the sulfur element in the food to form insoluble lead sulfide precipitates, which are also black and difficult to scrape off even by dentists using professional tools. But when treated with lead-removing medication, your teeth will get whiter day by day, even if you don’t take any other measures! Because the drug penetrates into the mouth and acts on the surface of the teeth to dissolve the black lead sulfide, the teeth are whitened.

4. Also, if the mercury load in the child's body is high , the teeth will also turn black. The reason is that the mercury in the saliva reacts with the sulfur element in the food to form a water-insoluble black precipitate, which will also cause the teeth to turn black.
