Why do babies move their hands and feet when feeding?

Why do babies move their hands and feet when feeding?

Some babies always move their hands and feet around when they are feeding, and sometimes they even spit up milk, which is very worrying for their mothers. In fact, don't be anxious when encountering such a situation. There must be a reason for the child to have such a phenomenon. Although the child does not speak, parents should observe in time to see what causes this phenomenon. For example, the child may be very hungry, or not eat enough, or did not sleep well, etc.

1. Not enough food :

Because the flow of breast milk comes in waves, the baby will be a little anxious when there is no milk, so he will struggle. In fact, he is protesting, asking why there is no milk. It is easy for the baby to inhale air at this time, and he will easily spit up milk. It is recommended to massage your breasts with your hands every time you want to breastfeed.

2. Hungry :

If the baby is not full and eats too quickly, he will struggle! Comfort your baby more, tell him stories, divert his attention, and let him continue eating when there is milk!

3. Want to poop or fart :

Because the baby's stomach is in a horizontal position, has a small capacity, the cardia connecting to the esophagus is wider and has a poor closing effect, and the pylorus connecting to the small intestine is tighter, it is easy for the baby to want to poop or force himself to fart.

4. Sleeping :

Sometimes the baby is sleepy and is fussing about sleep. At this time, the mother should hug the baby or use other methods to help the baby sleep.

5. Wrong posture :

It’s not that the baby doesn’t want to drink, but that he is in a hurry to drink, so he is looking for it desperately. In this case, the mother should help the baby to align the pacifier.

6. The baby is feeling uncomfortable : for example, is the nose blocked? The baby used to cry when drinking milk like this! Sometimes it’s because of a blocked nose that you can’t breathe smoothly!

7. Hug your baby :

Sometimes babies need you to hold them. If you don't hold them, they will make "hmm" and "ah" sounds by themselves. In fact, they do this on purpose to get your attention. There is nothing wrong with just holding the baby and he will be very happy.

8. Don’t want to eat or not hungry :

The reason he struggles when drinking milk is because he doesn't want to eat yet. You don't need to force him to eat. Of course he will cry if you keep forcing him to eat.
