What are the methods for removing phlegm from babies?

Since babies have relatively poor resistance, they often have symptoms of colds and fevers. The most common one is coughing. If this occurs, the baby will feel very uncomfortable. It is easy to produce phlegm when coughing, so you have to find a way to help your baby expectorate. This will have a therapeutic effect. You can gently pat the baby's back, which can help expel phlegm and reduce the possibility of other complications in the baby.

Methods for removing phlegm:

Sputum cupping helps loosen phlegm. Although the baby may not cough up the phlegm after cupping and may sometimes swallow it directly into the stomach, as long as the position of the phlegm is moved, the occurrence of complications can be reduced.

First, find the part with phlegm.

Put your ear close to your baby's chest and listen carefully to his breathing. When you hear any noise, that's where the phlegm is. Of course, the sound of sputum is sometimes not as easy to judge as imagined. It is recommended that parents take their baby to see a pediatrician first, and then cup the sputum for the baby after determining the location of the sputum.

Second, the hand is cupped

Put your fingers together, bend your palm into a cup shape, and relax your wrist, and make a breathy sound when you tap your baby's body.

Then master the baby's preparation posture

1. Phlegm on both sides of the lungs

The baby lies on his stomach on the bed, with a small pillow supporting his abdomen, or lies on the parents' thighs with his head low and his feet high, and pats his left and right lungs.

2. Phlegm in the upper lungs

Hold the baby upright on the parent's chest and pat just above the shoulder blades.

The correct final shot

As long as your hand position is correct, the slapping will make a loud noise and your baby will not feel any discomfort. When patting, you should do it from bottom to top, and continue patting for 5 to 10 minutes, or count to 300 silently. Be careful not to pat the spine and waist.

Phlegm is the residue of dead white blood cells caused by colds. If it stays in the body, the baby will feel uncomfortable. It is also detrimental to the baby's health and will prevent the virus in the body from being eliminated soon.
