What causes viral infection in babies?

When babies are young, they are prone to minor problems, such as fever, cough, runny nose, etc. This is because the baby's body is not fully developed and has poor resistance. When infected by some viruses, the body will show these symptoms. Parents do not need to be overly anxious when this happens. This is a reaction of the baby's body to resist the virus. So what is the cause of the baby's viral infection?

1. Reason 1

Most viral infections in the human body are latent infections (meaning that after a person is infected with a virus, no symptoms appear but specific antibodies are produced). A few are overt infections (referring to the appearance of symptoms after the human body is infected with the virus). Among explicit infections, most viral infections manifest as acute infections, with rapid onset and short course, and most of them heal themselves within 1 to 2 weeks. A few manifest as latent infections (such as herpes virus infections) and chronic infections (such as hepatitis B virus infections). In addition, there is a type of slow infection or slow virus infection, such as kuru disease. Some of these pathogens are clearly viruses, while another group may be other factors (such as protein infectious factors). A few viruses such as cytomegalovirus and rubella virus can infect the fetus through the placenta, causing congenital infection, leading to stillbirth, miscarriage, premature birth and congenital malformations, which is an important topic of current eugenics research.

2. Reason 2

Most studies have shown that certain viral infections are related to the occurrence of tumors, such as Burkitt's lymphoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma are related to Epstein-Barr virus infection, primary liver cancer is related to hepatitis B virus infection, cervical cancer is related to etc. Viral infections can be transmitted through the respiratory tract, digestive tract, skin and mucous membranes, eyes, urogenital tract and placenta. Among patients with viral infections, there are more children than adults. Most patients with viral infections can recover on their own. Patients with severe infection may die and suffer from sequelae.
