Things to note when newborns swim, mothers should know

The most fun time after a baby is born is swimming. Swimming has many benefits for babies. It can help babies grow faster and make babies feel safe. However, there are still many things to pay attention to when swimming for babies, such as the choice of swimming pool and neck ring. Making the baby comfortable is crucial.

1. Choice of swimming pool

When your baby is swimming at home, you should not use hard-walled swimming pool tools, such as plastic basins, buckets or adult bathtubs. You should use a special soft-walled family swimming pool for infants and young children. The purpose is to prevent older babies from kicking the pool wall without controlling the force when swimming, which can easily damage the baby's muscles, ligaments, joints and other tissues. The depth of the swimming pool depends on the baby's height, and the principle is that the baby's feet do not touch the bottom of the pool when swimming. Place small toys that float and make sounds in the swimming pool for your baby to play with while swimming. Before swimming each time, be sure to check whether the swimming tank and neck ring have any leaks and whether the inflation level is appropriate to ensure the baby's swimming safety.

2. Choice of collar

Pay attention to whether the model of the neck collar matches the baby. The inner diameter of the neck collar should be greater than or equal to the baby's neck diameter. As your baby grows to different stages, you should replace the neck collar with a different model and size. The neck ring is inflatable. After inflation, install the lower air nozzle and cover it tightly. Be sure to press the entire air nozzle into the neck ring to make the surface of the swimming ring smooth. This can effectively prevent the air nozzle from running out, and you will not feel uncomfortable if it touches the skin. More importantly, this is safer and more scientific.

3. When putting the ring on your baby, two people are needed to do it and the movements should be gentle. Put the baby on the swimming ring and check whether the lower jaw is supported in the preset position (the two lower jaw angles are close to the inner ring), and the chin is placed in its groove. The baby should enter the water gradually and slowly. Mothers cannot use the swimming ring to move the baby in the pool. They can only hold the baby's hand to move the baby in the water, or let the baby play by himself.
