Many children have red spots on their feet, which is probably caused by hemangioma. Of course, some children suffer from diseases such as rashes. In addition, hand, foot and mouth disease can also cause this symptom. Therefore, when red spots appear on your child's feet, you must go to the hospital in time to check the cause and then receive symptomatic treatment. Next, I will introduce to you the reasons why red spots appear on children’s feet! 1. Small red spots on baby's feet It may be a hemangioma, a congenital benign tumor or vascular malformation commonly found in the skin and soft tissue, formed by the proliferation of angioblasts during the embryonic period. It is more common in infants at birth or shortly after birth. The residual embryonic angioblasts and active endothelial-like germs invade the adjacent tissues to form endothelial-like cords, which are then connected to the remaining blood vessels after tubulation to form hemangiomas. The blood vessels within the tumor form their own system and are not connected to the surrounding blood vessels. Hemangiomas can occur anywhere in the body, with those occurring in the oral and maxillofacial area accounting for 60% of all hemangiomas in the body, followed by the trunk (25%) and limbs (15%). Most of them occur in the facial skin, subcutaneous tissue and oral mucosa, such as the tongue, lips, and floor of mouth, and a few occur in the jawbone or deep tissue. It is more common in women, with a male-to-female ratio of approximately 1:3 to 1:4. 2. There are red spots and itchiness on the child's feet It could be a rash. Skin lesions that are different from normal skin include various forms and can be divided into primary rash and secondary rash. Common ones include macules, papules, blisters, pustules, wheals, nodules, ulcers, etc. There are many types and causes of the disease, and diagnosis needs to be made based on different situations. 3. Hand, foot and mouth disease Hand, foot and mouth disease is an infectious disease caused by enterovirus. There are more than 20 types of enterovirus that can cause hand, foot and mouth disease, among which Coxsackievirus A16 (Cox A16) and enterovirus 71 (EV 71) are the most common. It mostly occurs in children under 5 years old, with symptoms such as mouth pain, anorexia, low fever, and small blisters or ulcers on the hands, feet, mouth, etc. Most children recover on their own in about a week, while a few children may develop complications such as myocarditis, pulmonary edema, and aseptic meningoencephalitis. The condition of some seriously ill children progresses rapidly, leading to death. Currently, there is a lack of effective treatment drugs and the main treatment is symptomatic. |
