What to do if your baby has slow bowel movements

What to do if your baby has slow bowel movements

We all know that babies' bodies are not fully developed in all aspects, and they are prone to problems of one kind or another, including slow intestinal motility, which can easily lead to a series of problems, and in severe cases may even have an adverse effect on the baby's growth and development. Therefore, once parents find that their baby's intestinal motility is slow, they must not take it lightly and must take it seriously. So, what should you do if your baby has slow intestinal motility?

You should wash your hands before breastfeeding or making milk, and before and after contact with your baby.

Use boiled warm water to make milk and sterilize the bottle thoroughly.

For mild diarrhea, you can dilute the milk.

If your baby is drinking formula milk, you should let your baby drink a fixed brand and do not change it at will to avoid the baby's poor adaptation. If you want to choose another brand of milk powder for your baby, you should pay attention to whether the baby has any uncomfortable gastrointestinal reactions during the milk change process. If there is any discomfort, you should temporarily stop changing the milk.

Pay attention to water replenishment and do not give him sports drinks or juice unless the baby refuses to drink water. Even if you want to give him sports drinks or juice, dilute them with water.

You can stop feeding for 1-2 meals to allow the stomach and intestines to rest, but do not fast for a long time.

When diarrhea is severe, you can buy oral electrolyte solution to replenish water, electrolytes and maintain blood circulation. If necessary, intravenous drip treatment is required to balance the large amount of water and electrolytes lost.

Milk that is not finished at the meal should not be saved for the next meal, because warm milk is the best breeding ground for pathogens. If it is fed at the next meal, the baby will swallow a large number of cultured bacteria.

Slow intestinal motility in babies is a common problem. Parents should pay attention to it. Otherwise, it will easily cause problems in all aspects of the baby over time, and even cause various diseases. Generally, as long as reasonable conditioning is carried out, the problem of slow intestinal motility in babies can be better solved, and parents do not need to worry too much.
