What is the cause of white ringworm on the face of a 4-year-old child?

Although children do not care much about their appearance, if parents find skin diseases on their children's faces, they will inevitably worry that it will leave marks in the future and have a negative impact on their children's appearance. Therefore, many parents pay more attention to their children's skin problems. Some parents will find that their children have white ringworm on their faces, and they want to know the reasons. So, what is the matter with white ringworm on children's faces?

Some children and young people have white or light red spots on their faces, with small scales attached to the surface, and sometimes itching symptoms. Because this skin disease often occurs in the spring when peach blossoms bloom, people commonly call it "peach blossom ringworm." This skin disease is detrimental to beauty, and especially brings unspeakable distress to young girls. Some parents saw the white spots on their children's faces and thought they were worm spots, saying they were a sign of roundworms in their children's stomachs, so they gave their children anthelmintics, but to no avail. It turns out that this coloration has nothing to do with roundworms. When some girls heard that it was ringworm, they bought some ringworm ointment or lotion to apply on their own. As a result, the skin was irritated and became red and swollen, which aggravated the condition.

In fact, ringworm is completely different from what is medically known as ringworm, a superficial fungal disease of the skin. In other words, peach blossom ringworm is not "ringworm". At present, medical science has proven that it is actually a general term for skin diseases such as simple pityriasis, seborrheic dermatitis and spring dermatitis that are common in spring. The treatment should be differentiated and symptomatic. The onset of simple pityriasis may be related to factors such as excessive exposure to wind and sun, indigestion, vitamin deficiency, and dry skin. Simple pityriasis versicolor on the face is patchy and varies in size, with the smallest being only about 1 cm in diameter and the largest being several centimeters, with pigmentation on the surface. The patches are pale white or light red, with clear edges, fine scales on the surface, and slightly raised. During the active phase of the disease, the scales increase, decrease during the dormant phase, and disappear during the healing phase. Generally, there are no subjective symptoms. Some patients experience mild spasms and itching, which will disappear on their own after several months or longer.

If parents find that their children have ringworm on their faces, they should take their children to a specialist hospital for treatment in time to prevent the ringworm from further deteriorating and increasing the difficulty of treatment. Since ringworm may be confused with other skin diseases, parents should give their children reasonable medication under the guidance of a doctor and not act recklessly on their own.
