What to do if a 3-year-old child has tonsillitis

What to do if a 3-year-old child has tonsillitis

The incidence of tonsillitis among adolescents and children is quite high. Many children suffer from the harm and trouble of tonsillitis at a very young age. Many parents lack knowledge about tonsillitis and do not know how to help their children or how to reduce the torture and harm to their children. They ask: What should I do if my children have tonsillitis?

Tonsillitis is clinically divided into acute and chronic types. Western medicine believes that acute tonsillitis is mainly caused by bacterial or viral infection, and a few are caused by mycoplasma and other infections. Chronic tonsillitis is mostly caused by the poor physical constitution of the child and the prolonged acute tonsillitis. Traditional Chinese medicine calls tonsils "tonsils". It believes that the causes of acute tonsils include wind-cold, dampness, wind plague, wind-fire, heat toxins, and heat stagnation in the lungs and stomach. Generally speaking, one is external dampness that directly attacks the lungs and stomach; the other is internal latent fire that attacks the throat. Chronic eczema is mainly caused by congenital deficiency, phlegm and qi blockage, heat disturbance, dietary injury, liver fire and phlegm accumulation, phlegm and blood stasis. The main cause of the disease in children is insufficient constitution and deficiency of both qi and blood, which leads to stagnation of phlegm and swelling.

Antibiotics must be used in sufficient quantities and for a sufficient period of time. For children with acute tonsillitis, the Western medicine treatment methods are as follows: pay attention to rest, drink plenty of water, eat a soft diet, strengthen nutrition and clear the bowels. When the sore throat is severe or the fever is high, you can take antipyretic and analgesic drugs orally. Local treatment can also be used, such as gargling with compound boric acid solution, warm salt water, etc., or taking throat lozenges, local flushing and steam inhalation, etc. In addition, antibiotics can be used to treat concurrent bacterial infections.

It is natural for parents to worry when their children suffer from tonsillitis. Parents should pay attention to timely treatment of their children when they have acute tonsillitis, otherwise the disease will easily become chronic, which will then be more difficult to treat, and the torture and harm suffered by the child will undoubtedly become more serious.
