Can anal prolapse cause coughing in children?

Will children's rectal prolapse cause coughing? In fact, this is a confusing statement. It does not mean that rectal prolapse will cause coughing, but coughing can cause rectal prolapse, especially when the prolapse itself is serious. These behaviors such as sneezing less often can cause rectal prolapse.

1. Systemic factors:

In malnourished children, the fat in the ischiorectal fossa disappears, causing the rectum to lose its surrounding support and fixation, and the contraction force of the sphincter group is also weakened, making the rectum easily prolapsed from the anus.

2. Local tissue anatomical factors:

1. The curvature of the sacrum has not been formed: In infants and young children, the curvature of the sacrum has not been formed, the pelvis is not tilted forward enough, and the rectum is in a vertical position, in a straight line with the anal canal. When the downward pressure in the abdominal cavity increases, the rectum has no support from the sacrum, and the pressure acts directly on the anal canal, making it easy to slide downward.

2. Weak supporting power of surrounding muscles: The supporting power of the levator ani muscles and pelvic floor muscles is weak.

3. Relaxed mucosa: The rectal mucosa is loosely attached to the muscular layer, and the mucosa is easy to slip off.

3. Contributing factors: Any situation that causes a long-term or sudden increase in intra-abdominal pressure can contribute to rectal prolapse.

What is anal prolapse?

Rectal prolapse is a common disease. There are many reasons for it, mainly the following:

1. Due to long-term constipation, diarrhea, prostate hypertrophy, difficulty urinating, chronic cough, etc., the abdominal pressure continues to increase, pushing the rectum downward.

2. Fecal incontinence due to damage to the anorectal ring, resulting in prolapse of the anal canal, rectum and rectal mucosa. Due to systemic malnutrition, the fat in the ischiorectal fossa is absorbed, the pelvic floor tissue becomes empty, and the support and fixation function of the rectum is lost, resulting in full-thickness rectal prolapse. The rectal submucosa relaxes and easily separates from the muscular layer, resulting in rectal mucosal prolapse.
