Why is the urine white in children?

White urine generally refers to the white color of urine and white sediment. Among children, many people are concerned about why their urine is white. This situation is likely related to diet, and some foods may cause turbid and white urine.

1. Diet

Some babies' urine is not only white in color, but also a layer of white sediment can be seen in the potty. The milky white color of a child's urine is not necessarily related to the kidneys. It is mostly caused by the increase and precipitation of certain components in the urine. For example, when children eat foods containing oxalate and carbonate, such as green leafy vegetables such as spinach and amaranth, or fruits such as bananas, oranges and persimmons, the salt content in their urine increases. When these substances are excreted from the body with urine, they will crystallize into salts such as carbonates or phosphates when they encounter cold, making the urine turbid.

2. Nursing

This situation is mainly common in cold seasons. If careful parents can heat and boil the turbid urine or add vinegar to the urine, the urine will become clear and the truth will be revealed. Generally, this kind of urine is not harmful to children's health. As long as you pay attention to giving your child more water or oral vitamin C, the rice-water-like urine will naturally disappear after a few days. When the weather is cold, be sure to keep your children warm and don't let them catch a cold.

3. Chylous urine

If the baby's urine is white and turbid and is accompanied by other symptoms such as swollen legs, and the urine cannot become clear after adding vinegar or heating, it is possible that the baby has filariasis or inflammation in the thoracic duct. This type of urine is called "chyluria."

4. Pus cells

The baby's urine is not only white, but also accompanied by frequent urination, urgency, and pain. Most of the time, there is an infection in the urethra. The urine is milky white because there are many pus cells in it.
