TCM treatment of pruritus in children

Many people have experienced itchy skin, and everyone has a different solution. The most common way to solve the problem is to apply some skin care products. This is a good way to relieve the problem, but the methods to relieve itchy skin vary depending on each person's situation. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment for pediatric skin itching is a good choice. It is very effective in improving such a situation, and parents can use it with confidence.

Traditional Chinese medicine treatment for pediatric skin itching;

It is recommended to take 4 grams of Saposhnikovia divaricata, 2 grams of Moutan bark, 4 grams of Rehmannia glutinosa, 4 grams of Dioscorea batatas, 3 grams of Kochia scoparia, 1 gram of Insect Exuviae, 1 gram of Chuanxiong, 5 grams of Angelica sinensis, and 2 grams of processed Licorice decocted in water and taken three times a day to strengthen the spleen and stomach and perform internal conditioning.

Children's skin is delicate, especially that of infants, whose stratum corneum is thinner, sebaceous glands are not fully developed, and skin vascular system is well developed. Therefore, children's skin is easily damaged and bleeds easily, and their scalp and face are prone to seborrheic dermatitis. Their skin is prone to hardening after being exposed to cold. In view of the above characteristics, different protective measures should be taken according to age, different skin types and different seasons.

1. First of all, keep your skin clean at all times. It is generally advisable to use warm water for washing and bathing. You can use some children's bath gel and soap appropriately to remove sebum, dust and dirt on the skin. It is best not to use soap for dry skin to avoid making the skin drier. Neutral and high-fat children's soaps are suitable.

2. When taking a bath, pay special attention to the cleanliness of the area behind the ears, external auditory canal, neck, armpits, abdomen, etc. Underwear and bedding should not be washed with highly alkaline soaps and laundry detergents. After washing, wipe the skin clean with a towel and rinse the underwear several times to avoid irritation to the skin. Newborns should start bathing with warm water 3-5 days after birth, and then gradually use soap and bath gel. They need to be rinsed with clean water and dried with a clean, soft towel after washing. Do not rub. No oil is needed after washing, because too much oil will clog the pores of the sebaceous glands and sweat pores, which is not conducive to excretion. Powder can be applied to the wrinkles of the skin.

3. Children's underwear, sheets, and diapers should be made of soft pure cotton. Wool underwear, silk, nylon, chemical fibers, etc. are prone to allergies, causing itching and even dermatitis. The yellow sebaceous scabs on the scalp and eyebrows can be allowed to fall off on their own. Thicker sebaceous scabs can be softened with some sterilized vegetable oil and then wiped off with a clean cotton ball. When cutting children’s hair, it is best to use their own scissors to avoid contracting diseases such as tinea capitis and impetigo. Wash and blow-dry your hair immediately after it sweats, because head lice are more likely to breed in a humid environment. The skin in the wrinkled areas of children's armpits, groin, neck, etc. is easy to contact and rub against each other, and is prone to dirt and erosion. Sweat is not easy to dissipate, making it easy to get prickly heat and infection. Therefore, the skin, especially the wrinkled areas, must be clean and kept dry, and the clothes should not be too tight.

When understanding and using traditional Chinese medicine treatment methods for pediatric skin itching, parents also need to pay attention to their children's physical changes. If any abnormalities occur, they need to go to the hospital for examination in time. Parents should also make the right choices in children's supplies, which is also very helpful in preventing skin itching.
