What to do if your child has scoliosis

What to do if your child has scoliosis

Scoliosis is relatively common in children, and this condition must be treated early. Many people don’t know what to do with children’s scoliosis. Conservative treatment should be adopted for children’s scoliosis, while surgical treatment is mainly for patients with excessive spinal curvature.

1. Surgery:

This is mainly for patients with excessive spinal curvature.

2. Physical therapy:

This is mainly a treatment method based on the different conditions and physical constitutions of the patients.

3. Electrotherapy:

Electromagnetic therapy is used to increase the absorption function of the diseased area, improve blood circulation, peel off tissue adhesions and prevent re-adhesion.

4. Traction:

It can increase the intervertebral space and separate the adhesion tissues to achieve the purpose of reduction.

5. Brace fixation:

After traction, the necessary brace is used to force the repositioned spine to remain stable and not retract, which also has the effect of expanding the intervertebral space.

6. Manual reduction:

It can remove ligament adhesion, improve muscle nutrition, strengthen muscle metabolism, and enhance muscle elasticity. It can dredge meridians, improve blood circulation, and soften soft tissues and ligaments.

7. Conservative treatment

For example, vests and gymnastics generally only have a certain control effect on the development of the secondary arc of the child, or can maintain a certain flexibility, while vertebral deformity must be corrected through surgery. The type of scoliosis must be diagnosed before treatment can be determined.

8. Note

The age of five is an important stage for the development of a person's internal organs. Therefore, children under the age of five who have chest deformation due to spinal deformity especially need to undergo thoracic expansion and shaping surgery as soon as possible. On the one hand, it has a certain corrective control effect on spinal deformity. On the other hand, it expands the chest cavity by stretching the ribs, providing the proper space for heart and lung development, thereby promoting the development of the heart and lungs. This is very important. In order to ensure the healthy development of children, parents should not neglect if they find their children have scoliosis, and should detect and treat it early.
