It may not be a simple skin disease. So, what disease is the red spot on a child's face?

Red map on newborn baby's face

When the baby's full month day came, many people came to see the baby. The red mark on the baby's face caught the attention of Ms. Liu's colleagues. One of them said to Ms. Liu, "I have a relative whose baby also has such a red mark on his face. I asked my friends and they said it would disappear on its own, so I didn't take the baby to see a doctor. As a result, we went to the hospital for a check-up. The doctor said it was a hemangioma, which affected the organ disease. Because the best time for treatment was delayed, the child's eyes have not healed after a long period of treatment." After hearing what her colleagues said, Ms. Liu became even more anxious, and the next day she hurried to the hospital with her husband, Mr. Wang, for a check-up.

After learning about the condition of Ms. Liu's baby, the patient was treated by Dr. Yuan Jianqiong, a dermatologist who has many years of experience in the clinical treatment of birthmarks. After facial examination and examination results, the baby was diagnosed with port-wine stain, which is one of the common types of infantile capillary hemangiomas. Considering the facial condition of Ms. Liu's baby, Dr. Yuan used nano-light waves to treat it. This therapy is guided by an electronic mirror that displays skin dynamics in real time, starting from the pigment cells and targeting the removal of birthmark tissue. After two or three treatments, the baby's face gradually improved.

Regarding the symptoms of hemangioma, Dayu.com specially invited Dr. Yuan, a dermatologist with many years of experience in the clinical treatment of birthmarks, who said that most hemangiomas are congenital benign tumors or are caused by vascular malformations. Most hemangiomas exist in the womb, so they can be seen when babies are born. Some hemangiomas only appear during the growth process. Most hemangiomas grow on the face and limbs. Most hemangiomas feel raised to the touch, so babies can easily scratch or rub them, causing bleeding, or even bacterial infection.

The following are some common hemangiomas in infants:

1. Capillary hemangioma: also known as strawberry nevus

This is a common infantile hemangioma that usually grows on the face and neck. It looks just like a pink strawberry and won't fade when you press it with your hands. Strawberry-shaped nevus usually does not appear when the baby is born, but only appears after the baby is one month old. This type of hemangioma grows with the baby and usually grows quickly, sometimes even several centimeters a week. However, parents do not need to worry too much, because this tumor will no longer grow after the baby is one year old, and will regress on its own, and will no longer be seen at all when the baby grows up.

2. Port wine stain: also known as telangiectasia nevus or port wine nevus

This spotted hemangioma will fade when pressed with your hand, and it will look like a red butterfly, and it will not feel raised to the touch. Port-wine stains usually appear on the baby's face and limbs and are usually visible when the baby is born. It will continue to get bigger as your baby grows, but it will not go away on its own.

3. Cavernous hemangioma

Babies with cavernous hemangiomas must receive prompt treatment because it may cause other lesions. About 1/4 of babies will die from bleeding, respiratory tract infections or lesions due to cavernous hemangiomas affecting the oral or pharyngeal mucosa.
