Why does the baby blink so hard?

It is normal for children to blink their eyes, because everyone of us blinks. We are not fish and cannot move. The normal frequency of blinking is not too much. Now some parents find that many babies blink frequently, and even blink very hard. What causes this? Parents are particularly worried about whether the child did it on purpose. So what is going on when the baby blinks hard? Let’s find out together!

1. Inflammatory stimulation: It may be caused by infections such as bacteria, viruses, chlamydia, etc., such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, etc.

2. Congenital entropion and trichiasis: Some children have congenital entropion, which causes the eyelashes to fall on the surface of the eyeball, irritating the cornea and causing tearing.

3. ADHD in children: refers to the sudden, involuntary contraction and movement of a certain part of the child's body, such as blinking, frowning, twisting the mouth, shrugging, etc., inattention and hyperactive behavior changes.

4. Eye fatigue blinking: including visual fatigue, such as refractive errors, especially uncorrected hyperopia, myopia, and astigmatism, which cause visual fatigue of the eyes.

5. Neurogenic blinking: It is caused by the frequent contraction of the nerve fibers that control the orbicularis oculi muscle after being stimulated.

6. Polyblink in children: The blink frequency is more than 12 times/minute, not accompanied by facial spasm and other systemic symptoms, with relatively independent clinical symptoms and no neurological diseases. Some children watch TV for too long at a young age. Watching TV for 30-50 minutes has no obvious adverse effect on children's eyesight, but if it lasts for more than 2 hours, more than 60% of children will suffer from varying degrees of vision loss and a significant increase in visual fatigue. Although visual fatigue can be recovered after rest, repeating this process will cause damage to the eyes. In addition, vitamins and trace elements play an important role in ensuring the normal function of the eyes.

Now we know why the baby blinks hard. Of course, we should still go to the hospital's ophthalmology department for a diagnosis before making a final conclusion. Because we all want our children to grow up healthily and live a happy life, so we will pay close attention to the baby. This blinking problem should be checked quickly.
