Children's teeth fall out but permanent teeth do not grow. There is a time and order for the eruption of permanent teeth. The upper central incisor (commonly known as the front teeth) erupts between the ages of 6 and 9, and the lateral incisors erupt between the ages of 7 and 11.

Permanent tooth eruption disorder affects the development of oral and maxillofacial organs. X-ray examination showed that although Binbin's permanent teeth had developed, due to the hyperplasia of the alveolar bone, the gums became thick and tough, creating great resistance, making it impossible for the permanent teeth to break through the ground. At the same time, the heavy resistance prevented the deciduous teeth from falling off and they remained on the gums, preventing the eruption of the permanent teeth. What’s worse is that since the tooth roots have fully developed and the root canal openings have closed, there is no motivation for these teeth to erupt, and it is unlikely that they will ever see the light of day!

Director Zhu reminded that if the replacement of deciduous and permanent teeth is affected by certain factors and causes disorder in the process, it will cause obstacles to the eruption of permanent teeth and affect the development of oral and maxillofacial organs, which will cause harm to the normal dental morphology and oral function in the future. Binbin's maxillary protrusion may be related to this.

Binbin's case requires surgery, which requires turning back the gums, removing the hypertrophic part, exposing the tooth crown, and performing traction at the appropriate time.

Early detection and early treatment can reduce the harm. Alveolar bone hyperplasia is often caused by genetic, drug, virus and other factors. Binbin's mother had rubella when she was pregnant and took some medicine. Therefore, mothers must strengthen protection during pregnancy, not abuse drugs, not undergo radiation examinations and treatments casually, not come into contact with toxic substances such as pesticides, and prevent infection with rubella virus, cytomegalovirus, hepatitis B virus and toxoplasmosis.

During the period when children are replacing their teeth, parents should pay more attention to timely nutritional supplements, eat more foods rich in vitamin A and vitamin D, and foods rich in trace elements calcium and phosphorus, and develop good habits of gargling and brushing teeth.
