What should I do if my child snores and holds his breath while sleeping?

Our general understanding is that adults are prone to snoring, and the older they are, the more severe the snoring is. Did you know? Some children snore and even have symptoms of breath holding when snoring, which makes parents very worried. At this time, you should be vigilant and check in time, as the child is very likely to have tonsillitis. So, what should we do at this time?

Dietary treatment for tonsillitis in children:

You can eat pears when you have fever or sore throat. Pears have the effects of reducing fever, moistening the throat and relieving pain, which can alleviate symptoms. Pear juice also has the effect of relieving cough and reducing phlegm. Slice a pear, squeeze the juice and freeze it to make it easier to eat. If you have a fever and are extremely afraid of cold or prone to diarrhea, it is best to drink hot pear juice.

During the chronic stage, it is advisable to eat fresh vegetables, fruits, beans and nourishing foods, such as soybeans, tofu, soy milk, pears, rock sugar, honey, lily soup, etc. When you feel something unusual in your throat, you can eat kumquats. Compared with other sour fruits, kumquat peels are quite sweet.

Kumquat peel is rich in nutrients, containing vitamin C and calcium, which can eliminate tonsillitis. The fruit contains vitamins A, B, C and calcium. If it tastes sour when eaten raw, you can add rock sugar or honey to make juice. Kumquat leaves also have medicinal effects. Boiling them into juice and drinking it has a good effect.

The root of Platycodon grandiflorum has medicinal effects and can reduce inflammation, resolve phlegm, and discharge pus (squeeze out pus). In summer, dig up the roots, wash them with water, and air-dry them, then they can be used as medicine. However, Platycodon grandiflorum has a strong medicinal effect and can easily make you feel like vomiting after drinking it. It is best to boil it with licorice and take it as a juice. Add 3 grams of Platycodon grandiflorum root, 2 grams of licorice and 300 grams of water, boil until half the amount, and remove the residue. When drinking, rinse your mouth first and then drink.

If a child develops tonsillitis, timely treatment is necessary. If tonsillitis recurs, the tonsils may even need to be removed for treatment. In addition to drug and surgical treatments, you can also use diet therapy, which will make tonsillitis heal faster and reduce the child's pain a lot.
