How to reduce the fever of a child?

Summer and autumn are the seasons when people are most likely to catch a cold. Not only adults are prone to catching a cold if they are not careful, but children are too. Some children have low resistance and can catch a cold or even have a high fever if they are not careful when the weather changes. But parents dare not give their children random medicines, after all, all medicines are poisonous. So how to reduce the fever of children? The editor has looked up some relevant information and would like to share it with you.

1. If you find that your child has a fever, you should first determine the child's body temperature, usually using an axillary thermometer. A body temperature between 37.4℃ and 38℃ is a low fever; a body temperature between 38℃ and 40℃ is a high fever. Once the body temperature reaches 40℃ or above, it is considered an extremely dangerous high fever, which may even threaten the child's life.

2. There are many reasons for low fever. Bacterial infection, excessive exercise, and even vaccination may cause children to have a low fever. Generally, if a child has a low fever, the condition will improve by getting more rest and drinking more water. If the low-grade fever persists for more than 36 hours, the situation will become complicated and you should seek medical attention immediately without delay.

3. If you find your child has a high fever at home, you should give him/her antipyretics immediately. The medicine will gradually take effect after 1 hour. Generally, high fever symptoms will recur. It is normal for symptoms to recur within 12 hours after taking a normal dose of medicine, and it is abnormal if they recur within 8 hours. Children should not take any kind of antipyretic medicine four times in a row within 24 hours, otherwise it will cause great harm to the child.

4. If a child has a high fever, he or she should seek medical attention while taking antipyretics, regardless of whether the symptoms will recur. Taking antipyretics will not affect any of your doctor's tests. Generally, there are two main reasons why children have a high fever: inflammation and viruses. Do not take any medications, especially anti-inflammatory drugs, except antipyretics until your doctor has confirmed your condition. It only works on high fever caused by inflammation and is ineffective against viruses.

Children's fever can be a serious matter or a minor one. If the fever does not subside after treatment at home, you should go to the hospital for treatment in time. However, some parents believe that if they dress their children in more clothes and cover their body to sweat when they have a fever, the fever will go down. In fact, this practice is very dangerous. Not only will it not reduce the fever, but it will also cause the child's body temperature to continue to rise. If you want to reduce the fever, you can feed your child more boiled water, which can play a supporting role.
