In our current society, the pressure of survival is increasing. Many times, it has directly forced the academic status of today's teenagers. In order to have a bright future, parents will sign their children up for various interest classes and tutoring classes starting from the time they are in primary school. They would rather their children suffer than fail to excel. If this continues, teenagers will develop insomnia symptoms and need relief. Clinicians need to carefully inquire about the patient's medical history, including specific sleep conditions, medication history, and possible substance dependence, and conduct a physical examination and assessment of mental and psychological status. The specific contents of sleep status data include the manifestations of insomnia, work and rest patterns, sleep-related symptoms, and the impact of insomnia on daytime function. Medical history data can be collected through a variety of means, such as self-rating scale tools, home sleep records, symptom screening forms, psychiatric screening tests, and family member statements. The recommended medical history collection process (items 1 to 7 are necessary assessment items, and items 8 are suggested assessment items) is as follows: (1) A system review should be conducted to determine whether there are any diseases of the nervous system, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, digestive system, and endocrine system. It is also necessary to check for various other types of physical diseases, such as skin itching and chronic pain; (2) Through interviews, determine whether the patient has mood disorders, anxiety disorders, memory disorders, and other mental disorders; (3) Review the history of drug or substance use, especially the history of abuse of psychoactive substances such as antidepressants, central nervous system stimulants, analgesics, sedatives, theophylline, steroids, and alcohol; (4) Review of overall sleep status over the past 2 to 4 weeks, including sleep onset latency (the time from going to bed to falling asleep), number of awakenings during sleep, duration, and total sleep time. It should be noted that when asking about the above parameters, the average estimated value should be used, and the sleep status and experience of a single night should not be used as the basis for diagnosis; it is recommended to use a body movement sleep monitor to conduct a sleep assessment in a 7-day cycle; I wonder if the more comprehensive and scientific analysis I provided above will make today’s young parents pay more attention to their children’s health status. If teenagers cannot ensure good quality sleep, they will not have the energy to cope with tomorrow's challenges, nor will they be able to improve brain development and receive more education. |
