What is the treatment for premature infants' retinal disease?

There are always some accidents during pregnancy that we cannot control, and the birth of premature babies will also pose a certain threat to the health of pregnant mothers. Of course, it will also have a certain impact on the children. We call children who are born before full term "premature babies", which will affect the child's eyesight and also have a psychological impact. Next, let’s take a look at what are the treatments for retinopathy of prematurity?

Although the symptoms do not show up until 3 to 4 months, we can actually detect whether there is a problem with the baby's eyes through examination and testing from the beginning.

First, check the corner of the baby's eye (I forgot whether it was the corner of the eye or the cornea, check both) to see if there is a white spot. If there is, gently rub it with your hand, and it cannot be wiped off, you should send the baby to see a doctor immediately (this white spot will grow bigger and bigger, and at night it will glow like a cat's eye);

Secondly, if your baby is premature, it is best not to wait until 42 days to do a neonatal and maternal examination. It is best to go to the hospital for a vision examination for the baby in the third week to avoid missing the treatment window;

The retina is like the photosensitive film in a camera, which is responsible for light-sensitive imaging. When we look at something, the image of the object passes through the refractive system and falls on the retina. The retina is a transparent film. Due to the relationship between the choroid and pigment epithelial cells, the fundus appears a uniform orange-red color. The posterior boundary is located around the optic disc, the anterior boundary is located at the ora serrata, its outer surface is close to the choroid, and its inner surface is close to the vitreous body. Visual information forms visual nerve impulses on the retina, which transmit the visual information along the visual pathway to the visual center to form vision, thus establishing an image in our minds.

Third, give your baby simple vision tests at home frequently.

Test 1: Use a flashlight to shine on the baby's eyes. His normal reaction should be to close his eyes suddenly.

Test two: Take a moving object and move it up, down, left, and right in front of the baby's eyes. His eyes should move with it.

The above is the treatment method for retinopathy of premature infants. In order to ensure the health of the child, it is recommended that premature infants be placed in an incubator. Give them a better development environment. Take your child for regular physical examinations and observe whether his or her skin and reaction conditions are normal, so as to achieve the goal of early detection and early treatment.
