Babies around two years old are still not fully developed physically, so they need careful care from their parents. Because the organs are not fully developed, the immunity and resistance are relatively poor, which makes it easier for diseases to develop. Moreover, it is very difficult to treat babies around two years old who are sick. So, how long will it take for a two and a half year old baby's swollen lymph nodes to disappear? How long does it take for swollen lymph nodes to go away? There are four causes of swollen lymph nodes. One is caused by inflammation, two is caused by tumors, three is caused by lymph tuberculosis, and four is caused by lymphoma. Different types of lymphadenopathy have different co-causes, which will result in different times for the lymphadenopathy to subside. Here I will introduce the various types of causes: 1. Inflammatory swelling: When acute and chronic lymph node infections are caused by bacteria, viruses, rickettsia, chlamydia, fungi, spirochetes, protozoa, worms, etc., the lymph nodes may become congested and edematous, and lymphocytes and macrophages may proliferate. There is infiltration of neutrophils, monocytes and plasma cells, and even necrosis and granulomas occur, resulting in enlarged lymph nodes and painful acute lymphadenitis, which is usually secondary to infection in the corresponding drainage area. Effective antibiotic treatment can shrink enlarged, inflamed lymph nodes. 2. Tumor enlargement: whether it is an endogenous tumor originating from the lymphatic system. Whether it is a tumor that has metastasized from outside the lymph nodes, it can manifest as uncontrolled proliferation of tumor cells in the lymph nodes, occupying and destroying the normal structure of the lymph nodes, while also causing proliferation of fibrous tissue and infiltration of inflammatory cells in the lymph nodes, thereby leading to lymph node enlargement. Cancerous tissues tend to invade the surrounding lymphatic sinuses and medullary sinuses of the lymph nodes first, and then gradually involve the entire lymph node, and can penetrate the capsule to invade the surrounding tissues. Therefore, cancerous lymph nodes are often as hard as stone and relatively fixed. 3. Lymphatic tuberculosis: There are two causes of lymphatic tuberculosis: One is the primary infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis through the upper respiratory tract or with food in the oral cavity and nasopharynx, especially the tonsils. Then it travels along the lymphatic vessels to the superficial and deep lymph nodes in the neck. Most of the lymph nodes in each part are unilateral. The pharynx is affected. In severe cases, the affected lymph nodes continue to develop into cold abscesses or ulcers after absorption. The other is that after primary tuberculosis infection, the tuberculosis bacteria in the blood enter the medial cervical lymph nodes through the blood, causing cervical lymph node tuberculosis; it can also be infected from the waist and abdominal lymph nodes, and then draw to the deep lymph nodes for secondary infection, which is more common in the onset of cervical lymph node tuberculosis. 4. Lymphoma: Lymphoma is a group of malignant tumors originating from lymph nodes or other lymphoid tissues. It can be divided into two major categories: Hodgkin's disease (HD) and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). Histology shows neoplastic proliferation of lymphocytes and (or) tissue cells. |
