1. Umbilical cord bleeding. There are a few brown or bright red blood stains on the newborn's clothes.

2. Umbilical granuloma. When the wound behind the umbilicus has not healed, it will be stimulated by foreign objects and small polyp-like granulomas will form on the cut umbilical cord wound. It manifests as a cherry-red swelling in the navel, with tissue ranging in size from rice grains to soybeans, thick, bloody secretions, which stain clothes and do not heal for a long time. 3. Umbilical eczema. Many babies suffer from eczema, and some babies have eczema on their belly button. Eczema on the navel may cause skin erosion and the secretion may vary.

How to prevent bleeding after the umbilical cord falls off in newborns

1. Keep your baby's navel clean. When the baby's umbilical cord stump just falls off, there may be a small amount of exudate in the navel fossa, and a little rice-soup-like liquid may seep out. This is because the surface of the detached umbilical cord has not yet fully grown, and the fluid in the granulation tissue seeps out. In addition, there may be slight redness on all sides of the belly button. This is a normal phenomenon during the shedding of the umbilical cord stump, so mothers do not need to worry too much. At this time, you can use a 75% alcohol cotton swab to clean the umbilical fossa, and then cover it with sterilized gauze.

2. Keep the baby's navel dry. When the baby's umbilical cord stump has just fallen off and the umbilical fossa is not yet dry, it is important to ensure that the umbilical fossa is dry. Infection is most likely to occur at this stage. Once soaked with water or urine, immediately wipe it dry with a dry cotton ball or clean soft gauze, and then disinfect it with an alcohol swab.
