How to treat burn scars in children

As for the scars from burns on children after treatment, it depends on the severity of the burns and different treatment methods will be chosen accordingly. If the burns are mild, no treatment is required and they can generally recover on their own, while more serious ones require good treatment to avoid the impact of scars on the future. What you need to pay attention to is to maintain good health in your life, avoid eating irritating foods, and avoid adverse stimulation to the scar.

Different scar repair methods can be given according to the location, depth and size of the burn, so as to restore the burn area to its original state as much as possible. First-degree burns: Since only the epidermis is damaged, new skin will grow in the future and only some painkillers are needed to treat it.

Continuously applying ice to the burn can help relieve pain. Superficial second-degree burns: Damage to the shallower granular dermis, but there is a high chance that new skin can grow on its own, so you only need to apply medicine to care for the wound.

Sometimes debridement to remove some of the dead skin helps prevent infection. For deep second-degree burns or above, since it takes a long time and the chance of self-healing is very small, most of the time a debridement surgery to remove the necrotic skin and then a skin grafting surgery is needed to achieve good results.

Skin grafting surgery involves cutting eligible skin from other parts of the body and transplanting it to the area where the burn scar has been removed. The transplant can significantly improve the severity of the burn scar, but it may leave scars on the area where the skin is taken. In addition, laser dermabrasion uses a carbon dioxide laser to polish the skin. Unlike dermabrasion, laser dermabrasion is a relatively bloodless scar repair method.

No matter what degree of scar, you need to take good care of yourself. Smaller scars can recover on their own, but larger scars will take longer to recover. This includes the effect of treatment and which method is used for treatment. Generally, laser treatment is relatively more effective. If the scar is serious, skin grafting will be required.
