Jaundice is a hepatobiliary and pancreatic disease that is relatively common in daily life, especially in newborns. Newborns are born with physiological jaundice, which usually disappears when the baby is one month old, so parents don’t need to worry. However, if the jaundice does not dissipate in time, it is necessary to seek treatment as soon as possible. So what medicine is effective for neonatal jaundice? Not all neonatal jaundice requires medication. For example, neonatal physiological jaundice usually begins on the third day after the baby is born, with a peak on the fourth to fifth days and lasting until the seventh day. It slowly subsided from the eighth day. Generally, physiological jaundice disappears in half a month. Therefore, this type of jaundice does not require medication. Just like physiological jaundice, breast milk jaundice does not require medication. Just wean your baby off breast milk for three days and switch to formula milk, and the jaundice will go away. So what medicine is good for neonatal jaundice? First of all, we need to distinguish whether it is physiological jaundice or pathological jaundice. If it is physiological jaundice, no medicine is needed, but pathological jaundice requires timely medical treatment. The combined use of drugs for neonatal jaundice is more effective than using them alone. The following drugs are generally used: prednisone, 1-2 mg per kilogram of body weight per day, taken orally in 1-2 times; luminal (phenobarbital), 5-8 mg per kilogram of body weight per day, taken orally in 2-3 times. Some Chinese medicines can also be used as medications for neonatal jaundice. Commonly used prescriptions include: 15 grams of Artemisia capillaris, 3 grams of processed rhubarb, 9 grams of Scutellaria baicalensis, and 1.5 grams of licorice, one dose per day for 3-5 days; 3 grams of processed rhubarb, 3 grams of Coptis chinensis, and 4.5 grams of Scutellaria baicalensis, one dose per day for 3-5 days. In short, most jaundice in newborns is physiological jaundice, and parents do not need to worry. It will usually disappear automatically after half a month. If it has not disappeared after a full month, parents should hurry and take their children to the hospital for examination and treatment. However, "all medicines are poisonous", so parents can ask for some folk remedies to treat their children. |
