Reasons why babies sweat on their heads when sleeping at night

Many babies sweat when they sleep at night, especially on their heads, which makes parents very worried, but they don’t know the reason. Many babies sweat due to physical weakness, but not all sweating is due to physical weakness. So, what is the reason why babies sweat on their heads when sleeping at night? Let’s find out through the following content!

It is common for babies to sweat during sleep, but it is not always a symptom of physical weakness or illness. Many parents. I think the child is weak and therefore sweats constantly. In fact, a considerable number of children have physiological hyperhidrosis, while some have pathological hyperhidrosis.

1. Physiological sweating. Because the brain and nervous system of children are not yet fully developed and they are in the growth and development period, their metabolism is particularly vigorous. Coupled with the stimulation of overheating, they can only regulate their normal body temperature by sweating to evaporate the heat in their bodies.

2. Pathological sweating occurs when the child is in a quiet state, such as sweating caused by rickets, which manifests as obvious sweating on the child's head in the first half of the night after falling asleep. Because the pillow is irritated by sweat, babies frequently shake their heads and rub against the pillow when they sleep, resulting in sparse hair on the pillow and falling out, forming typical occipital annular hair loss, which is medically called "occipital baldness". It is an early manifestation of rickets in infants. Rickets can be controlled and sweating can stop by itself as long as vitamin D and calcium are supplemented in time.

It is normal for children to sweat while sleeping because children's sweat glands are more developed. The secretion of sweat glands is controlled by the autonomic nervous system (vagus nerve). After falling asleep, the excitement of the vagus nerve causes excessive sweating, usually on the head and face. However, it will be relieved within one or two hours after falling asleep. If you keep sweating after sleeping and the amount is quite heavy, it may be autonomic nervous system dysfunction, which may be partly caused by calcium deficiency.

Through the introduction above, I believe you already know the reason why your baby sweats on his head when sleeping at night! Generally speaking, it is normal for children to sweat while sleeping at night, but other possibilities cannot be ruled out, and parents do not need to worry too much. You can choose to take your baby to the hospital for a check-up to see if it is due to a lack of vitamins or other reasons. This will give you peace of mind.
