What to do if your nine-month-old baby has a hoarse voice

The problem of hoarseness in nine-month-old babies often makes us parents unable to sleep or eat. We regard our children as the apple of our eyes. Once our children have illnesses, we mothers will be very anxious and urgently need to find better methods. Maybe everyone does not know much about the treatment of hoarseness in nine-month-old babies. Let us learn about the treatment of hoarseness in nine-month-old babies.

1. Cold: After a cold, the virus invades first, followed by secondary bacterial infection, which can easily cause acute inflammation of the laryngeal mucosa. If it invades the vocal cords, the vocal cords will become congested and edematous. In addition, the laryngeal mucosa is congested and edematous, the secretions increase, and they are thick and difficult to cough up, and adhere to the surface of the vocal cords, thereby hindering the opening or closing of the vocal cords. Therefore, hoarseness is easy to occur after a cold.

2. Vocal cord polyps and vocal cord nodules can cause incomplete closure of the vocal cords during pronunciation, leading to hoarseness. Vocal cord polyps: The main manifestation of vocal cord polyps is varying degrees of hoarseness. In mild cases, there are intermittent voice changes, fatigue in voice, dull and rough timbre, and difficulty in high notes; in severe cases, there is hoarseness or even loss of voice. Giant polyps may be accompanied by difficulty breathing and laryngeal hyperactivity. Vocal nodules: The main symptoms of vocal nodules are hoarseness. In the early stage, there is no change when pronouncing low notes, but intermittent hoarseness occurs when pronouncing high notes. The timbre changes, and the patient becomes easily fatigued when speaking. The symptoms gradually worsen, and the hoarseness changes from intermittent to continuous. The patient has difficulty singing and cannot speak loudly.

3. Laryngitis Acute laryngitis: When you catch a cold, work too hard, or smoke or drink too much, it can cause acute inflammation of the throat. In mild cases, the pitch becomes lower, the voice becomes rough, and pronunciation becomes difficult. In severe cases, you may lose your voice. Chronic laryngitis: It is more common in people who smoke and drink excessively for a long time, and in living or working environments with dust, smoke, and volatile gases, which cause chronic inflammation of the larynx. The voice is rough and the pitch is low. It is intermittent in the early stage and gradually develops into a continuous one. It is more severe after getting up in the morning and lighter during the day, but complete loss of voice is rare.

4. The first type is hoarseness caused by inflammation or edema with mild symptoms, such as acute and chronic laryngitis and laryngeal edema caused by colds. The second type of hoarseness is caused by organic changes in the larynx, including lesions such as vocal cord nodules, vocal cord polyps, precancerous lesions such as laryngeal leukoplakia and laryngeal papilloma, and even laryngeal malignant tumors. The third type is hoarseness caused by vocal cord paralysis, which is divided into functional and organic types. If it is organic vocal cord paralysis, it may be caused by many reasons and needs to be confirmed by examination by an ENT specialist.
