What are the early symptoms of cataracts in children?

Cataract is a very common eye disease. The incidence rate is usually higher in middle-aged and elderly people, but children may also suffer from the disease. Due to incomplete understanding of the symptoms of cataracts, many people simply regard some early symptoms as eye fatigue or decreased vision in the early stages of cataracts. They do not pay enough attention to them and fail to get timely examinations and treatments. When cataracts reach an advanced stage, they are likely to cause blindness. Next, we will introduce the early symptoms of cataracts in children.

1. Monocular multi-vision

Patients with early-stage cataracts often feel a white blur in front of their eyes, and everything they see seems like flowers in the fog. At this time, middle-aged and elderly people should pay special attention and go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible. In addition, some people will experience monocular polyopia, and the lens of the eye is partially cloudy and partially transparent, so the image of objects projected onto the retina by light will produce double or multiple images.

2. Abnormal color vision

In the early stages of cataracts, the lens absorbs a lot of water and becomes swollen, which causes the gaps between the lens epithelial cells to enlarge and fill with tiny water droplets. When light passes through it, it is easily refracted and appears as a colored halo, which is what we often call iridescence. This color vision abnormality is also one of the early manifestations of cataracts, so middle-aged and elderly people who experience this condition should be vigilant.

3. Blurred vision

Many middle-aged and elderly people will find that their vision has declined significantly recently. Not only is their vision blurry, but they sometimes also feel that halos appear around the light and the colors of objects are not bright enough. Especially at night, when walking on the road, you may feel that the headlights of oncoming cars are too dazzling and make you feel uncomfortable or irritated.

4. Presbyopia is relieved

Some elderly people will suddenly find that they can see clearly without wearing reading glasses. At this time, many elderly people will be very happy, but many people do not know that there is a bigger disease hidden inside.

The above article introduces some early symptoms of cataracts in children. When these symptoms appear, we must pay attention and have an eye examination as soon as possible. Do not confuse decreased vision with cataracts and delay the best treatment time. Only by fully understanding the early symptoms of cataracts can we understand and judge our own condition and receive treatment as early as possible.
