How long do deciduous teeth last?

For every mother, every child is unique and cannot be replicated, so the health of children is always a concern for mothers. Whether a baby's teeth grow healthily is also very important. So today the editor will tell you when the baby's teeth should grow. Mothers should remember that the teeth start to grow after about half a year, and all 20 teeth will erupt when they are 3 years old.

A baby's first tooth usually erupts between 7 and 8 months. But this number is just an average. Some babies may start growing teeth as early as 4 months old, while some babies may only grow their first tooth after 1 year old. These are all within the normal range, parents don't need to worry.

If the baby is over 3 years old and his deciduous teeth have not all erupted, further examination is needed to determine whether he is congenitally lacking tooth germs. The late or difficult eruption of all or most deciduous teeth is often related to systemic factors, such as rickets, hypothyroidism, and systemic nutritional deficiencies. Therefore, as long as the child is healthy, there is no need to worry if the child's teeth grow a little earlier or later.

There is a general rule for the order in which deciduous teeth erupt, which is "from the middle to both sides, one, two, four, three, five, symmetrical on the left and right, count from the bottom to the top."

"From the middle to the sides" means that the central front teeth erupt first, and then the teeth on both sides grow out one after another in order from front to back. "One, two, four, three, five" means that the order from front to back is not directly from the first tooth in the middle to the fifth tooth, but in the order of one, two, four, three, five, that is, the canine located in the third position in the middle will erupt later than the first deciduous molar located in the fourth position.

"Left-right symmetry" means that the same teeth on the left and right sides erupt symmetrically almost at the same time. "Counting from the bottom first to the top" means that usually the mandibular teeth with the same name erupt earlier than the maxillary teeth with the same name, but there are exceptions for some teeth, such as the maxillary lateral incisors, which erupt earlier than the mandibular lateral incisors.

Parents, please remember that these rules are only general rules. There are also great individual differences in the eruption of teeth in different children, so don't worry too much. Finally, the editor would like to say one more thing. All doubts and worries will disappear as long as you take your baby to a regular hospital for regular check-ups.
