Why is my baby's poop black?

The change of stool color is related to many factors, especially when the baby's stool is not all yellow, which makes the family very worried. Is it a problem with digestion or gastrointestinal tract, or eating something that should not be eaten, or the stomach is cold? These reasons are indeed more common, but they should also be treated correctly. So what is the matter with the baby's black stool?

During the infant stage, the digestive organs are not yet fully developed and the digestive adaptability is poor. There are many reasons for indigestion caused by improper diet and feeding. For example, irregular feeding resulting in excessive feeding, unreasonable diet composition, too high milk concentration or sudden changes in diet, inability to adapt to the addition of too much complementary food, and too high nutritional value of food during weaning period will make the infant's digestive organs unable to adapt, resulting in indigestion and abnormal stools.

The symptoms are large amount, lots of foam, porridge-like, egg-drop-like, watery, and accompanied by a special sour and smelly odor. These symptoms of indigestion can be corrected by adjusting the diet. Black stools are usually seen in the following situations:

1. Upper gastrointestinal bleeding can cause black stools.

2. Swallowing bleeding from the mouth, teeth, nose, throat, etc. causes black stools.

3. If you consume animal blood, pig liver or eat too much meat, your stool may turn dark brown or black.

4. Oral administration of certain iron supplements and some Chinese herbal preparations can also turn stools into dark brown or black.

Therefore, when encountering this phenomenon, parents should take their baby to the hospital for timely examination to determine what kind of bleeding is causing it. If no spots appear, it means that the cause of black stool is due to the ingestion of foods containing animal hemoglobin, myoglobin or some colored medicines, and not due to autologous bleeding. Once again, it is recommended that children with black stools should go to the hospital to find out whether it is caused by their own bleeding, so as not to delay the baby's condition.

I believe everyone knows what's going on when the baby's poop is black. If you see that the baby's stool is abnormal, mothers should not be too anxious. Generally speaking, the stool of babies who are exclusively breastfed is not easy to be fixed. After all, it is related to the number of breastfeeding and even the mothers' diet, so it should be taken seriously.
