What is the cause of capillary dilation on the child's face?

Friends who have newborns at home may have encountered this situation: the child's face is flushed, and there are even red bloodshot eyes on the face, which looks very scary. If you encounter this situation, don't panic too much. You can do a blood test to see if it is related to thrombocytopenia. If there is no problem with the blood, it is just that the child's capillaries are dilated. So, what exactly is going on with capillary dilation in children?

Telangiectasia in children usually occurs on the face, neck, back of the head, and scalp at birth or shortly after birth. It can be unilateral and scattered, or bilateral and multiple. In children, capillary dilation initially presents as a light red, dark red, or purple-red lesion of varying sizes on the skin or mucous membranes, ranging from the size of a needle tip to a limb or half of the trunk. The color deepens after crying, with clear boundaries and various shapes, not protruding above the skin, but higher in some areas. After compression, the lesion partially or completely fades and the surface becomes smooth.

In children, telangiectasia is seen with large, irregular, dilated blood vessels with thin walls. Laboratory examination showed anemia, which may be aggravated by repeated bleeding, and coagulation tests were normal. There is pulmonary arteriovenous fistula. Peripheral blood picture shows erythrocytes, normal coagulation time and platelets, and slightly reduced coagulation factor V. Children with telangiectasia have a clear family history and are generally not difficult to diagnose. So, how to treat this disease? The baby's skin hygiene must be taken care of. Wash the baby's face with warm water every day. The towel used for washing the face should be soft, and the face pad and towel should be kept clean. When washing your face, you can use baby soap to remove excess oil from your face. Those with mild symptoms generally do not require treatment and will recover on their own after a few weeks.

Now you know what capillary dilation is in children. In short, friends who encounter pediatric telangiectasia do not need to be afraid. As long as they follow the doctor's instructions and the above methods, they can be easily cured. In addition, parents with a family history of genetic diseases should be prepared to detect their baby's illness in time and treat it.
