What to do if a baby girl has vulvar adhesions

Many people think that vulvar adhesion is a gynecological disease. In fact, this condition not only occurs in some adult women, but many baby girls may also experience symptoms of vulvar adhesion shortly after birth. When a baby girl has vulvar adhesions, many adults become worried. This phenomenon is related to many factors, and we must pay attention to prescribing the right medicine. So what should we do if a baby girl has vulvar adhesions?

1. Separation

If the labia minora and labia majora are slightly adhered, they must be separated. First, you need to clean the child's vulva, then apply some glycerin to the adhesion area, then use a cotton swab to dip in glycerin, and then separate the adhesion area. You must separate it. If you can't separate it, then go to the hospital and let the doctor separate it.

2. Hormones

Because adhesions are associated with a temporary estrogen trough, topical estrogen applied to the labia minora is sometimes effective (60-90%). But the recurrence rate is quite high. Hormones cannot be used for too long to avoid side effects such as premature breast development. Many colleagues in China separate adhesions without any anesthesia in the outpatient clinic. The child was in some pain, but only for a short time. The effect is good.

3. Reasons

The reproductive organs of female infants are still immature. The skin and mucous membranes of the vulva and vagina are thin and inelastic. The vagina is slender and the labia majora are thin, which cannot cover the labia minora and the vaginal opening well, leaving the delicate skin and mucous membranes of the external genitalia exposed to the outside. Moreover, since female infants have lower estrogen levels, weaker vaginal antibacterial ability, poorer defense function and vaginal self-cleaning effect, they are easily infected by pathogens. In addition, the vulva and vagina are close to the anus. If you do not pay attention to hygiene or improper care, you will easily be infected by pathogens and cause vulvovaginitis.
