How to prevent gastroesophageal reflux in premature infants

What is the phenomenon of gastroesophageal reflux in premature infants? Parents should pay attention to this problem, because we all know that for newborn babies, no matter what conditions occur in the body, it may have a great impact and harm, so we must pay attention to effective treatment and solutions, so as to help the baby as much as possible and reduce the impact of gastroesophageal reflux. The following are ways to prevent gastroesophageal reflux in premature infants.

Baby's milk spill is a disease called "gastroesophageal reflux". Because the sphincter at the lower end of the esophagus of newborns is not fully functional, it cannot effectively block the reflux of gastric contents, especially after feeding, the stomach volume increases and the pressure increases, which makes it easier to reflux. Therefore, the milk spill after feeding in newborns should first be considered as gastroesophageal reflux, and gastroesophageal reflux monitoring can also be performed to determine the degree of esophageal reflux.

The incidence of esophageal reflux in babies is relatively high. According to domestic reports, the detection rate of newborns is as high as over 60%, of which 20% will have symptoms such as milk regurgitation, spitting up milk or vomiting.

Although gastroesophageal reflux is often considered physiological in infants and young children, and most children's symptoms disappear within 12 to 18 months, if it is not treated, it may cause many complications (such as aspiration pneumonia, apnea, suffocation, malnutrition, weight loss and anemia, etc.). Therefore, gastroesophageal reflux in children should be recognized and treated early.

For infants and young children who frequently spit up milk or vomit, position, diet and drug therapy should be selected:

"Posture therapy" means that when the child is sleeping, the head should be properly raised and kept in a side position;

The key points of "diet therapy" are to eat small and frequent meals, and increase the number of feedings, but do not feed too much each time (for bottle-fed babies, rice paste can be added to milk to make the milk thicker);

"Drug treatment" mainly uses gastrokinetic drugs, which need to be used rationally under the guidance of pediatricians.

After analyzing the above contents, parents should pay more attention to understanding these common sense. Paying attention to these issues is also to better ensure the health of the baby, reduce the impact and harm caused by various diseases or some uncomfortable symptoms on their growth, and allow the baby to thrive.
