Newborn baby snoring while sleeping

Newborn baby snoring while sleeping

We know that many adults like to snore. Snoring may be a sign of physical fatigue, but many newborns also snore when they sleep. Parents will be very worried, wondering if they have some respiratory system diseases? In fact, newborns may snore while sleeping because their respiratory organs are not fully developed and may cause some blockages. So, what is the reason why newborns snore when they sleep?

1. Poor breathing

Poor airflow will result in insufficient oxygen entering the baby's body, thereby reducing the amount of oxygen in the blood. When this happens repeatedly, the baby will enter a state of discontinuous sleep. If this condition occurs frequently, the baby may snore while sleeping.

2. Genetics

This phenomenon may also be related to the parents' congenital genes. For example, if the mother has an abnormal jaw and a constricted airway, this will generally be passed on to her children, causing the children to have respiratory obstruction during sleep, thus causing the baby to snore while sleeping.

3. Swollen tonsils

During infancy, a lot of children's lymphoid tissue, also known as proliferative bodies, are concentrated in their pharynx. If the proliferative bodies grow too much, the tonsils will become larger, affecting the smooth flow of air in the throat and easily causing the baby to snore while sleeping.

4. Nasal stenosis

Babies have smaller bodies, including their pharyngeal cavities and nasal passages, so they are prone to blockage. Just a little secretion or mucous membrane can cause blockage of the baby's respiratory airway, and the baby will snore when sleeping.

5. Respiratory tract inflammation

When a baby's upper respiratory tract is inflamed or has chronic sinusitis, the inflammatory secretions will prevent the normal airflow in and out of the nasopharynx, causing the baby to snore while sleeping.

6. Obesity

If the baby is fat, there will be enlarged soft tissue in the pharynx, which can easily block the baby's respiratory tract and may cause the baby to snore while sleeping.

7. Poor sleeping posture

If the baby sleeps on his back, the root of the tongue will always move backwards due to the gravity generated by sleeping on his back. At this time, the tongue will block part of the baby's breathing passage, causing snoring while sleeping.
