What are the reasons for newborn spitting?

We all know that newborns are prone to diseases due to their lack of resistance, and they cannot effectively communicate with the outside world. Therefore, the illness of newborns is very worrying for parents. When we were young, we must have suffered from various diseases and had many strange behaviors. I don’t know if we spit when we were young. Next, we want to tell parents and friends the reasons why newborns spit.

1. The nervous system of infants and young children begins to develop rapidly after birth. The order of baby's nerve development starts from the center to the periphery. Therefore, the nerves around the mouth of a baby develop earlier than the nerves of the hands. For babies aged 2 to 5 months, the "mouth" is a tool for exploring the world, and they use their mouths to explore and experience the surrounding environment. So he will stick out his tongue and lick whatever he touches. This is the baby learning!

2. From a psychological perspective, the period from birth to 1 year old is the initial stage of the development of a child’s psychological sexuality, namely the “oral stage”. The main way for infants under one year old to satisfy their various desires is through oral means (i.e. sucking, eating, drinking, and eating fingers).

This is normal if there are no other problems other than tongue sticking out, such as refusing milk, crying, or drooling.

If your baby is about to grow teeth, he or she will drool.

If you are drooling but not because of growing teeth, it basically means you have a little bit of internal heat in your body. Check whether the tongue coating is red and swollen.

3. Bubbling caused by increased saliva secretion

The central nervous system and salivary glands of newborns are still immature, and the amount of saliva secreted is small. At 3-4 months, the salivary glands begin to develop and the amount of saliva secretion increases. However, the baby's oral cavity is relatively shallow at this time, the swallowing ability is not fully developed, the movements of lip closing and swallowing are not coordinated, and the excess saliva in the mouth cannot be regulated, so drooling and spitting bubbles are prone to occur. No treatment required, it will go away on its own!

4. If the baby is less than three months old, it is very likely that he has symptoms of pneumonia; if he is three or four months old, it is mostly normal. Whether there are signs of pneumonia can be further judged from the baby's breathing, eating, mental state, and whether there are other abnormal conditions to further decide whether to see a doctor.

Through the above article, we understand the reasons why newborns spit up. Parents can relax a little. Maybe the baby's spitting can help the baby's development. However, it should not be taken lightly. Parents should pay attention to the baby's every move in time and create an environment for the baby to grow up healthily.
