Why is the baby's face red?

Why is the baby's face red?

The baby's body temperature is more easily affected by the external environment. Whether the temperature is too high or too low, it will cause the baby to have fever symptoms. A red face of the baby is one of the symptoms. Of course, you must go to the hospital for examination to confirm what condition the baby has. Let us now understand why the baby’s face is red.

1. Eczema-type red face

Generally speaking, babies under one year old are at high risk of pediatric eczema, which can occur all year round. However, the climate is drier in winter, and babies who are prone to eczema usually have sensitive constitutions. Once dry skin encounters allergens, it becomes more likely to develop eczema.

When a baby suffers from eczema, the skin first becomes red and a rash appears, followed by roughness and flaking of the skin. Touching the child's skin feels like touching sandpaper. In addition to the face, eczema may also occur on the baby's neck, wrists, feet, and even the chest and back.

Countermeasures:

(1) Look for allergens: For example, if it is allergic food (such as milk, eggs, soybeans, peanuts, fish, etc.), or allergic clothing, or environmental allergens (such as dust, pollen, pets, etc.), then the child's eczema can improve quickly, but many times you cannot find the allergens immediately, and it may be caused by the superposition of several allergens.

(2) Moisturize the skin: The humidity at home should be kept above 40%. Find the most suitable product for your baby and use it 2-3 times a day. Be careful not to use shower gel that is too dry, and the bath water temperature should not be too high.

2. Low temperature stimulation type red face

If you are careful, you may find that many children in the extremely cold northern regions have red faces. In fact, this is caused by low temperature stimulation. Especially in extremely cold environments, children may blush due to abnormal expansion of blood vessels. The clinical manifestations are filamentous, dot-like, star-shaped or flake-like redness on the face.

In addition, large temperature differences are also an important reason for children's blushing. For example, when going from a cold room to an air-conditioned room, and experiencing sudden changes in temperature, the micro-capillaries lose their elasticity during repeated contraction and expansion, which is reflected in the cheeks and nose, causing the cheeks to become red and stinging.

Countermeasures:

(1) Keep warm: When outdoors, use a scarf or mask to prevent cold air from directly attacking your face, and avoid large differences in humidity and temperature, which can cause the dilated capillaries to contract rapidly when exposed to cold, forming red blood vessels. Pay attention to moisturizing the skin indoors. If the baby's face is dry, moisturize it in time and use warm water for washing the face.

(2) Reduce the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor areas: Since excessive temperature difference can cause the baby's skin to become dry and red or even crack, the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor areas should be appropriately reduced. If the baby's skin becomes dry and red, it is best to apply some more moisturizing cream in time.

The above is the explanation for the baby’s red face. Babies are at a high risk of various infectious skin diseases, and usually, babies are susceptible to viral infections, leading to colds, etc. Therefore, in order to prevent allergies, parents will have to work harder and observe their babies more often to see if there are any abnormal changes. I wish every baby has a healthy body.
