What to do if a 7-year-old child has a persistent fever

Every parent hopes that their children can grow up healthy and free from diseases. However, things did not go as planned. Not everything turned out as planned. The child was too young and had too low immunity, so he was easily infected by the virus and became very prone to illness. The most common diseases among children are colds and fevers. So, today we will find out what to do if a 7-year-old child has a persistent fever?

If the temperature is below 38.5 degrees, do not take antipyretic medicine or get antipyretic injections, and let your baby drink plenty of water. Pay attention to whether the ambient temperature is too high. In the hot summer, the temperature is very high and the baby's ability to regulate its own body temperature is poor. When the mother holds the baby, the heat is not easy to dissipate, causing the body temperature to rise. However, this kind of fever usually does not last too long. Put the child in a cool place, fan him slightly, give him some cool fruit juice, or give him a warm bath, and the body temperature will return to normal after a few hours. In winter, if the indoor temperature is too high and the baby is wrapped too much, the baby's body temperature will also rise.

Alcohol can dilate blood vessels and take away a lot of heat when it evaporates, which can help cool down infants and young children when they have a fever. Prepare 100 ml of 75% alcohol, add an equal amount of warm water, and keep the temperature at around 27-37 degrees Celsius. Do not let it be too cold, otherwise it will cause muscle contraction, causing the temperature to rise again. When doing alcohol bath, use a small towel to start wiping the baby's neck, then wipe from top to bottom in a patting manner. The armpits, groin, and areas with large arteries and blood vessels on the surface of the body should be wiped until the skin turns slightly red, which will help reduce the temperature. Be careful not to rub the baby's chest, abdomen, and soles of the feet to avoid causing adverse reactions.

If the fever is above 38.5 degrees, please ask a doctor immediately to confirm whether it is a viral infection or a bacterial infection. If it is a viral infection, use antiviral drugs (such as ribavirin); if it is a bacterial infection, use antibiotics (such as cephalosporins). Do not rush to reduce the fever. The fever is only a symptom and the cause of the disease must be found out.

Through the above introduction, how much do you know about what to do if a 7-year-old child has a persistent fever? Children should not be given random medicine when they are sick. As the saying goes, all medicines are poisonous to some extent, so parents should avoid injections if they can take medicine, and avoid intravenous infusions if they can get injections. If the child uses too strong medicine, he will have to take even stronger medicine the next time he is sick. Therefore, if your baby is sick, you need to find out the cause and send him to the hospital for examination as soon as possible if his temperature reaches 38.5 degrees or above.
