What should I do if my two-month-old baby has diarrhea?

The baby in every family is the treasure of his parents. They hold him in their hands for fear of dropping him, and hold him in their mouths for fear of him melting. Every move of the baby concerns their parents, and their health is what every parent worries about the most. However, babies’ bodies are so weak, and their resistance is far weaker than that of adults. It is inevitable that they will suffer from various diseases, and diarrhea is the most common one.

Drug treatment

①For mild to moderate diarrhea, oral rehydration can generally be used.

② If the diarrhea is caused by viruses or other reasons, you can try some ecological preparations; if the diarrhea is caused by bacteria, do not use antibiotics without authorization and go to the hospital for treatment.

③ Chinese medicine:

For cold-damp type diarrhea, characterized by thin, mushy or watery stools, clear urine, pale red tongue, and greasy white fur, use 10g of Patchouli, 10g of Perilla frutescens, 10g of Atractylodes lancea, 10g of Atractylodes macrocephala, 5g of Terminalia chebula, and 5g of Rhizoma Cibotii, decocted and taken orally;

Damp-heat type, characterized by foul-smelling stools with mucus, may be accompanied by fever, thirst, dark urine, and red tongue. You can use 10 grams of Scutellaria baicalensis, 3 grams of Coptis chinensis, 10 grams of stewed Pueraria lobata, 10 grams of Terminalia chebula, and 12 grams of Plantago, and decoct them into a soup for drinking.

During diarrhea, mothers should also be wary of diaper rash. Because the baby's bowel movements increase frequently, the skin and mucous membranes around the anus are damaged. They should be rinsed with warm water after each bowel movement and then some oily ointment should be applied. The baby's diaper should be changed in time to avoid diapers soaked in feces and urine from rubbing against the skin and causing ulcers. Prevent diaper rash and secondary infection. Also pay attention to dietary adjustments to help the baby. Also pay attention to the importance of a warm tummy, and make sure to keep the baby's abdomen warm.

When parents find that their baby has diarrhea, they should not panic or rush to seek medical treatment. Be sure to observe the baby's condition first to see if the situation is serious, and take him to a nearby large hospital for examination and treatment in time. For young babies, daily life details are very important, and parents must pay great attention to them.
