What should we pay attention to when children turn over their foreskin?

Many boys are born with longer foreskins. Many parents are worried that their children’s foreskins are long and that dirt will be stored inside, so they always want to turn the foreskin over to wash their children when bathing them. Many parents even make their children’s penises red and swollen because of this. So when a child’s foreskin is longer, what should you pay attention to when turning the foreskin over? Let me introduce it to you!

The foreskin contains a lot of dirt, which can easily cause various infections and requires careful cleaning. Most infants and young children in China (under 3-5 years old) have phimosis, and the foreskin cannot be turned up, so parents must be careful when washing their children.

Since infants and young children have very little smegma, for children with phimosis, if there is no obvious inflammation, it is not recommended that parents forcefully turn back the child's foreskin to clean it, as doing so may cause damage to the child's genitals. If there is obvious inflammation, such as redness and swelling of the glans due to infection caused by urine irritation, parents should take their children to the hospital for treatment in time and do not clean it by themselves.

For children with long or slightly older foreskin, parents must gently turn it over when helping them clean it, and must not use force.

When you open the foreskin to clean it, do not use too irritating cleaning products, just rinse it with clean water. Avoid wiping with a towel after washing, because cleaning products and towels can easily wash away the stratum corneum and cause inflammation.

When you lift up the child's foreskin to rinse, try not to lift it all the way up; just leave a little bit of the glans exposed. After flushing, be sure to restore the foreskin carefully to its original state and never get it stuck, otherwise it may cause ischemia or even lead to foreskin necrosis.

After reading the above introduction, I believe you have understood how to clean the dirt inside the foreskin of your child. If the child's foreskin is too long, it is better to go to a regular hospital for a circumcision surgery as soon as possible. Because as the child grows older, a foreskin that is too long will cause many unnecessary troubles. At present, surgery is the best way to treat foreskin.
