Baby has not had a bowel movement for 8 months and 4 days

Mothers all hope that their babies can grow up healthily so that they can be happy and worry less. However, some babies have gastrointestinal discomfort and good gastrointestinal function, and they always have symptoms of constipation. In fact, constipation of eight-month-old babies depends on the factors, such as recent inflammation or insufficient nutrition of breast milk. Too much nutrition can lead to constipation, which needs to be solved for the child. Not having a bowel movement for three or four days will have a great impact.

Causes of constipation in eight-month-old babies

1. Insufficient breast milk. If the mother's milk is insufficient, the baby will always be in a semi-hungry state, and the baby may only defecate once every two or three days. In addition to infrequent bowel movements, there are also signs of insufficient breast milk, such as feeding time longer than 20 minutes, lack of satisfaction after feeding, slow weight gain, restless sleep, etc.

2. The protein content of breast milk is too high. The mother's diet directly affects the quality of breast milk. If the mother drinks protein-rich soups such as pig's trotter soup and chicken soup every meal, there will be too much protein in the breast milk. After the baby eats, the stool will be alkaline, hard and dry, and difficult to excrete.

What to do if your eight-month-old baby is constipated

1. If the baby's stool is so dry that he has become constipated, you can use enema and laxatives appropriately. However, you cannot use enema or soap frequently to relieve constipation, because once the habit is formed, the normal "defecation reflex" disappears and constipation becomes more difficult to correct. The slow growth of baby teeth may be related to calcium deficiency or genetic factors. As the weather is getting colder and the time spent in the sun is reduced, we should pay attention to the factor of calcium deficiency.

2. Encourage your children to drink more water. It is not necessary for children to drink when they are thirsty. They should drink frequently and not too much at one time. Especially when the weather is hot, let your children drink plenty of water. It is better to drink boiled water, and avoid sugary drinks. Drink more water and watch his urine volume. Eight or nine times of urine during the day is fine. If the urine volume is small, it is probably because he does not drink enough water.
