How to treat rickets in babies?

Children are the treasures of the family. When a child is sick, many parents will become anxious and at a loss, wishing they could get sick instead of their baby. Especially when a child has rickets, many parents worry that it will affect the child's future, so they always spare no effort to treat their children. So how to treat rickets in babies? Let me introduce it to you!

Rickets:

Vitamin D deficiency rickets is a common nutritional deficiency in infancy and childhood. People often call this disease "calcium deficiency", which is wrong. It should be vitamin D deficiency.

Cause: Infants and young children grow and develop vigorously, and their bones grow and develop rapidly, so sufficient vitamin D is needed to maintain normal bone development. When vitamin D is deficient, this disease can be caused.

treat:

① The main treatment is to supplement vitamin D. For mild cases, take 1000-2000 units of vitamin D orally every day; for moderate cases, take 2000-5000 units; for severe cases, take 5000-10000 units. The specific situation should be followed by the doctor's advice.

② If the diet does not contain enough calcium, you can take active calcium orally. Be careful not to take excessive amounts of vitamin D for a long time to avoid vitamin D poisoning, but you can take preventive doses until 2 to 3 years old. After 2 to 3 years old, rickets will be dormant and there is no need to use cod liver oil for prevention. For those who take large daily doses of vitamin D for treatment, it is not advisable to use cod liver oil (which contains vitamin A and vitamin D) but rather pure vitamin D preparations to avoid vitamin A poisoning.

prevention:

① Encourage breastfeeding and persist in breastfeeding for 8 months.

② Starting from 2 weeks after birth, give your baby 400 units of oral vitamin D every day for preventive treatment.

③ Eat more foods rich in vitamin D and calcium, such as egg yolks, liver, fish, milk, beans, dried shrimps, etc. Do not eat too much oil and salt to avoid affecting the absorption of calcium in the body.

④ Take your baby to outdoor activities more often. When exposed to sunlight, 7-dehydrocholesterol in the skin is converted into vitamin D, which is the cheapest and safest source of vitamin D. Every 1 square centimeter of skin can produce 20 micrograms of vitamin D after half an hour of exposure. 1 to 2 hours of sun exposure a day can meet the needs.

After reading the above introduction, I believe you have a deeper understanding of rickets. If your baby shows this symptom, it is best to take the child to the hospital for examination in time. While using drug treatment, parental care is also very important. It is recommended that parents spend more time with their children to bask in the sun. Of course, preventing rickets in infancy is the best choice.
